Ceyon, you have far more patience than me. I feel terrible for you because you sound like a really nice guy and you've really been taken advantage of by this shop.

I think your safest bet right now is to cut sling load ASAP. If I were in your shoes, I'd drive down there with a trailer--unannounced--and pick up my truck. You may have to wheel and deal to get it out of him, but get the truck and the paperwork. Get it on a trailer and bring it home. I know you wanted a ready-to-drive truck but this one is a long, long way from being that. You'll probably have to write off the money you've burnt at ULC as a lesson learned.

Whatever you do, I really do hope that ULC does not sucker you into spending more money and time.

------ Follow up post added March 9th, 2015 11:54 PM ------

PS- and ditto what the others have said--if refund is an option, take that. Just spit-balling it, you're looking at $20K in parts (at a minimum) to get this thing drivable. It's not worth it. You can import an ex-MOD from any one of the reputable importers here for less than that.

How is taking possession of the truck going to solve anything? The OP has been clear he does not have the means to complete the project. Then factor the registration issue where ULR has yet to obtain a GA title in order to sell it in the first place.
We need to stop drinking the Kool-Aid. Cayon - that goes to you as well. ULR is not providing favors. Stop thinking the truck is worth 2x what you have in it because of the 'free' work by ULR and the two years that have lapsed.
Listen to the recommendations by many here. The truck should have been scrapped, not imported. ULR is in default. Collect your money and walk away.

Saying it twice would probably not be a bad thing, Russell.

Ceyon think this in steps.

1. Get as full a refund as you can then actively look for a similar complete running vehicle in good condition.
2. If ULC finishes the vehicle, before you buy it back, compare it to other vehicles available on the market and buy the best one you find for the money. If your old 110 gets completed before you make a purchase, then consider it as a purchase candidate.

In all likelihood you'll find a much better vehicle before another wrench is turned on your old ULC scrap heap.
If ULC didn't get the work done when you were paying them, there is no reason why they will get any work done when you have a refund.
Speaking of refund, is there a timeline for your refund?
You want a refund now, not 2 years in the future.
David has a shop full of much better vehicles that will require less effort to complete and generate income, so again I doubt that your old rust pile will ever get built up anytime soon if at all.

Exactly Russell, the whole scenario sounds like smoke and mirrors from the get go.
If Ceyon doesn't get a timely refund, then this will most likely be the last nail in the ULC coffin.
If Ceyon gets his refund, we can sit back and say perhaps ULC is turned over a new leaf and starting to make good on their word.
This is another case like Adam's 200TDI that David made good on!
We can only hope it plays out positive for Ceyon to walk away with a full refund.

Processing? What the fuck is that?? He needs to refund you for every cent you have spent on that truck and not a penny less, and he needs to do it today. It isn't that complicated. Or maybe "processing" means he is trying to figure out which Peter he is going to rob to paypal.

the guy obviously doesnt have the cash to refund him.. My suggestion is you allow him to have vendor status to sell a bunch of his valuable stuff contingent on the proceeds going to Ceyon… In other words the pay pals go to Ceyon not David… If he is cut off at the knees and can't sell anything how is going to pay him back?

ULC has the cash. According to them and others, they have a very full shop with tons of business.

I am squared up with ULC, David partially refunded me to compensate for the work that needed to be done to the motor. I insisted in a PayPal refund and it was processed within a day by his office.

Not taking any sides here, just stating that I no longer have business to pursue with ULC.
