Expedition Trailer Thread

There was a great thread on turn-key expedition trailers. I am in the market, but cant seem to find the thread. I did some google searches and lots came up, but curious what people have had good luck with. Im not interested in building one myself. TIA!

Cgalpin has a cool 109 trailer and I am learning from his build to do my own 90 tub expo trailer.

Uh yeah...what do you want to know! I am the self proclaimed Expedition Trailer trash guy on this board! You need an Adventure Trailer. I have spent dozens of hours researching expedition trailers and overall, while keeping it reasonable this is the best.

If you go out to the Overland Expo you'll see a bunch of stuff! You could fly down and I'll lend you the D90 and trailer and you can go try it all out for a week or so if you'd like. I have their Horizon model and you can see those photos in my profile link.

Oh damn. I dont event know about Overland Expo! Ill have to look that up. Im looking at some sort of EITHER teardrop or just a trailer...probably trailer. Id really like an out of the box solution but see so many companies making them, I want to know who has had good luck and who to steer clear of so to speak!

Well start with your budget...I made the mistake of not having one but I knew it had to be a short WB and go wherever the D90 went everything else was optional.

If you can make the Expo fly out and one of us will pick you up. Many options to equip you for the event. PM me or javelinadave if you can make it out.

Are you taking about real expedition trailers or something like a Scamp? There was a long scamp thread here IIRC.

One of the coolest trailers I ever saw was a RRC hauling (I think) almost an entire other RRC behind it - made into a trailer. That may have been a little form-over-function though.

A trailer axle, I guess I could have been a bit more clear. I don't want to drag around all that extra weight.

An empty axle tube doesn't weight much at all...you won't need the inners, just the stubs with bearings. Easy way to go, and you could just weld a plate over the diff hole and you're all set (I think that's what Galpin did).

Or plug in a diff so you've got a spare on hand for serious wheeling trips .
