Rock ware vice and drilling the dizzy shaft without a drill press were my fave moments.

Ok, I am getting closer to reassembling the engine and dropping it in and I plan to order the Mallory and the new coil. My question is if I replace my dist & coil, can I ditch all this other BS surrounding the factory coil?

If I'm not mistaken, most of that is the garbage kit Land Rover came up with to patch their broken system from the factory right?

Correct, if you are going with the fancy coil like we have. Tip, order an additional one of those Unilite eSpark ignition module things that go inside the Mallory distributor, as mine (and many others) came from the factory inoperable. It's pretty ridiculous, but Mallory knows they're going out broken to consumers a high percentage of the time and are not just send you a back-up one. Order everything from Amazon as it's the cheapest, and they refunded me a couple hundred bucks for my Unilite ignition module being messed up. I posted all of the parts and stuff that I bought, and as far as I can tell I came in a few hundred bucks cheaper than everyone else.

Also order a spare cap and rotor as I've read some have broken them during installation (I didn't, but others have).

Happy 10,000th post!

Don't pitch the relocation kit though - someone with a stock setup could use it.

Good call, I plan to keep everything I took out, by the time I'm done I'll have enough take-offs to build half of another car! lol

I could use the relocation kit and associated crap. My NAS 110 does not have it.
