Point taken. And yes, the Republicans have their finger prints all over this one. I should have put "big government" instead of "socialist" or perhaps "government social engineers" would work better. The phrase "corperate welfare" also comes to mind as well. Regardless, this ethanol nonsense would never stand the test of a free market. There is a huge cost to produce, transport and refine ethanol with little to no environmental or economic benefit to the citizenry as whole.

Blame Obama, blame the media, blame the liberals, blame whomever you want...it makes no difference in how the Government runs. Matters not which political party is involved, money talks in the halls of Congress.
The same people will be lobbying Congress whether the President is Dem or GOP or whatever.
The business of Government is to take your money and give it to someone else. If you take away its ability to do that, then it is out of business. The only way for Government to survive is to take more money, and give away more money.
A near perfect explanation as to why we need to vote Libertarian as a nation. We NEED to get big government out of our lives! What ever happened to "Give me liberty or give me death"? "Taxation without representation"? Today we tax the dead, all in the name of government revenue. Who in DC represents the dead anyway?

What about we make lobbying illegal so that politicians actually have to research and learn about issues in the same way as the rest of us?

It is a start. Because nothing in the physical universe can keep on expanding at the rate our government is expanding and not implode on itself. It is not sustainable.

There is NO discernible difference between a Democrat, Republican, Liberal or Conservative, tree hugger, polluter or any other group. They may push the rhetoric, but they don't act. Once they get elected, they are in it for themselves.

If we made Lobbists illegal, they would just operator in the cover of darkness. Politicians should be held accountable. They truly are "our" employees, not our superiors, elite class or do they deserve special privileges.

We need to go through every law and weed out the junk. Do we really need to be adding 1000's of new laws, regulations and taxes each and every year? Can we really regulate and tax ourselves into prosperity?

Government, in any form, exists to serve itself if it's power is unchecked. Our founding fathers understood this, but their principles are under constant attack.
