I just read it and was shocked that they let some wanker print his thoughts and not act like a writer.

Here is what I just sent them in an email.

ESPN,

I just read a small write up in your 2006 Paris Auto Show Gallery
Land Rover Defender (page 12) article. I could not believe the snyde comment from the author on Defender owners. It was uncalled for and was in poor taste to use for any vehicle. There is always the version of what you would like to say, but that is not the one that usually goes to press. I think you need to take a closer look at what goes to print on the web, and have a talk with the author. This version is not what I could have said.

And the bastard that wrote it is probably riding around in an H2 with a big soccer sticker, spinning rims and an OEM neo-brushguard trying to live the urban "rugged" fantasy in a "fako" knockoff vehicle....bought during his own mid-life crisis by the way. I'm sure if you took every SUV made in the US, the limited edition defender, hands down, probably has the highest percent of actually off roaded vehicle of anything that has ever come into or been made in the US. (and that's if you want to call the Defender an SUV, which it is not). CHUMP! I never liked ESPN anyway...

That man has no penis. I hope his Honda Element runs out of gas on his way back from the grocery store.

Espn coments

It would be good to send them an email with your views as well. I have sent SpeedTV emails complaining about too much NASCAR (should have it's own channel)and other senseless garbage shows. Hey, where is DTM, LMES, Dakar , etc. It's all about the money! The point is to let them know how you feel. Otherwise you are standing out on your soapbox complaining and nobody is listening.

Why would ESPN even cover an auto show. Especially when they provide no coverage of anything that could rightfully be construed as motorsport.

This sort of moronic cheeky coverage is pretty much par for the course though. It must be a newbie journalist that is still impressed with his own writing.

Forget the emails to dweebs. We all as a group need to call Nielson and get a monitor box put in our houses. That's power! By next year, they would pilot Muddy Oval TV!

Now your talking! That way we wouldn't have to get our fix by watching "Trucks!"
build another "Jammin' Jeep", or "Project Lazyhorse."

I don't know why, but it sounded like it might have been a female writer.

This is what I sent them:

Wow! I recently read a very bias review of the Land Rover Defender and the type of people who own them. Wow again. I didn't realize that ESPN allowed their writers to get intouch with their feelings, instead of sticking to fact based comments. I hold myself back from wanted to tell the writer how I truely feel, instead, I will just apologize for not driving a Prius.

Man.......that is bad. I don't see what advantage that ESPN has to put down a whole group of people who probably follow sports and watch their station........

I am also surprised that an editior would let a sentance like that through........

I was looking to write a response but when I hit "contact us" it was not obvious which division to write too. For those that wrote - which division did you pick to write to.

Pisses me off.......I am a original owner and love and know more about my truck, and its history (just like all of us) then just about all other "SUV" owners..........you think that ESPN would praise such a thing..........

Couldn't take it, so I wrote an email:

"Just read your article on the Paris Auto show on the internet.
Your reporter's comments on the Land Rover Defender, and it's owners, were
surprisingly un-educated and derogatory. The Defender and it's Heritage is unmatched the world over. If your reporters were a little more educated, civil, or disciplined in doing their homework, ESPN would certainly gain reputable credibility. But then again, who am I kidding?"

The fact that the writer says "An update to the Defender for 2007 isn't likely to land it in the U.S...." shows he knows little about his subject.

I think of my D as a tool to get me out from in front of the television and ESPN.

Spoiled brat....na.....insecure man suffering mid-life crises....

I pretty much could careless what ESPN has to say or what they broadcast. Do they really need to run Sports center the same episode back to back to back to back all day long? Or Cold Pizza? Sadly like Speed I pretty much don't watch either anymore. The only good stuff on ESPN at this point is soccer and the occasional open wheel race.
