Engine shipping from UK

I have already searched the forum and not found the answer. How do I go about shipping a 200 TDI from the UK to the states? If this was a Land Rover, I'd just email Uncle Doug and make it happen. For what it is worth, I live here and want to ship a 200TDI back to TN to put into my 86 110 that seems will not sell with the current engine in it. I have a line on a newly rebuilt engine for a thousand pounds, and can get a crate for it. Do I need a customs broker or ?

Thanks!

Eric

That's a good question Jim! Since I am in no hurry, I would figure transport by ship would be a bunch cheaper. Anyone that has any recent prices that could comment would be great!

I bought a reman engine from Turner Engineering in the UK and a I recall, it was only about $300 shipping all in via DHL (141kgs). Did not pay duties/taxes/etc. Showed up on my doorstep in 3 days!

Some stuff I've shipped over from the UK has arrived faster than many items take to get half way across the US.

An item ordered on 6/14 arrived 6/17 at my house.

Me too, I order from Craddock's and use the overnight option and it's often times cheaper and much fast than similar options in the US.

As for the OP's question, use DHL…….I have had several things shipped over that were awkward and bulky and DHL had them to me in less than 5 days for a very reasonable price.

I appreciate all the responses, I'll give DHL a ring and see what they can do for me.
