Engine Poll: What do you got under the bonnet?

Ever wonder what the "rest" of us run under our hoods? Got something in there we don't know about and want to enlighten us about it? Is there a specific twin turbo mod your dying to unleash on us? Lets find out! I myself run the stock motors in all my D's except for my 94 which has a 4.0. 3.9 in my 110 & 4.0 in my 97. Wish I could buy 3 4.6's for all trucks as well as chips but I gotta save $ for my next project......a 3.9 v8 powered rwd toyota Corolla SR5. hehe

Stock 3.9...but I have 3 4.0s on stands and am looking for a set of 4.6 internals and t-hat liners and some custom Wiseco pistons to build something crazy this winter. I think I could be happy with 5 liters.

The part about the 5 liters almost made me blow Dr. Pepper through my nose.

Is this for the white D or do ya have something else in mind? I'm trying to think of an excuse to drive out to Albq.

Oh yeah, 3.9... heck you never know they may change the speed limit back to 55.

It'd be for the D-90. I've got a nice L suffix R380 to put in at the same time. It's been a few years since it got any real upgrades, so I've been treating it to some upgrades lately. I just installed plasma winch rope and the X-Brake that I got from GBR and tomorrow I am installing a set of Keiths new Super Duper Axles and Longfield CV joints. It's the shiniest thing I've ever bought for the truck and I have to hide it in the axle tube. It's a shame as these things are beautiful! I've also got a set of axle cases off of a Disco 1 that I am going to have sand blasted and then shave off all of the sway bar brackets and weld on some thick diff pans and have them repowdercoated. I'm hoping I can use one of the rear ABS sensors to provide a road speed signal so that I can hook up the Terra Trip that I won at the Rally raffle.

I've got 2.25 liters of english fury.

Actually it IS an ACR power plus stage 2 motor, supposedly 112 horse. I'll lose a handful of those to the new PS pump.

5.0, ported and polished. Needs headers (running the stock 3.9 headers now) and a bit more air, but the way it is, it hasn't blown up the drive train (knock on wood) yet. Fitted a Saudi-issue fan and finally have the temp really under control...

Now THATS a raffle prize!!! I've been trying to find an older halda to install in the bentley -- not easy to locate.

oh, 3.9 -- honestly, it's the one thing that actually works first time every time in the truck.

Rimmer Supercharged 4.0- Not as fast as you'd think on the highway but will light up all 4 tires most any time under 30 mph. Kinda scary in mud once it finds some traction.

In increasing order of complexity:
Rochester carbed 2.25 liter gasoline in the 88"
Balanced and blueprinted 2.25 liter diesel in the 109"
300 Tdi in the 90
Kugelfischer mechanically fuel injected 2.0 liter 4 cylinder in the BMW 2002Tii
Tower shaft driven double overhead cam - opposed four cylinder air cooled 1500cc (4-cam) engine in the Porsche Carrera

The BMW is a 1972 in the best color for one of these - Inka Orange. I've had six 2002's over the years - this is the first Tii I've managed to get my hands on. Fun car...
The other car is my custom Porsche Carrera - soon to be repainted silver.

I wondered what you were going to use for an input on that thing when you got it!

300 Tdi, best engine Land Rover ever produced from scratch. Running it on B20 biodiesel at the moment, getting about 25-26 mpg.

Minus the EGR of course, and with some tweaking to the fuel pump, and high-ratio transfer gearbox (LT230Q) on the R380 box.

Cheerio,
John
