Elf in the D90

Before you poopoo Elf on the Shelf, thought this was a nice use of my D90 toy! Kudos to the wife for creativity.

Jesse,
Is that a Wolf range in the background? If so any complaints? I'm contemplating replacing my Viking POS with something better.

Very cool! My wife just bought one of those toys for my one year old and I! Obviously mostly for me! ;-)

And that is a wolf range! A very nice one too! Imho, they are the best. I have a commercial wolf range in my Napa kitchen, not as fancy as that one, but they are work horses! That one is much more modern and looks a bit more user friendly and easier to clean than mine, but they are all built with the same philosophy. Meant to run hard and hot all day long and get cleaned at the end of the day by a minimum wage closing crew. Viking is simply a glitzed up, stainless clad, commercial "look," kitchen aid. Both great brands! I love Kitchen Aid! And Viking makes great BBQ's as well. I have one and love it. Wolf is just the best, hands down, in the kitchen. Just my .02

Yes sir, it's a wolf 48" range. I have no complaints at all. We just finished our house this year, so I only have about 8 months under my belt, but so far it's perfect. It cooks evenly on the burners. I like the griddle too. We didn't consider anything else though. I know a few people with Viking and Aga, but I think it's all preference.

------ Follow up post added December 4th, 2014 11:33 PM ------

I should add we also have a 36" built-in Wolf grill, wolf hoods, sub zero fridge, wine chiller and freezer, so I'm a bit biased. Only thing we have that's not wolf/sub zero is a built in garage 48" GE Monogram fridge (was free) and a Scotsman ice maker (a 110% splurge).

I didn't realize Tyler had such sophistication! My impression of Tyler was there wasn't much going on out there. You're not an island in a sea of pole barns are you?

We have redneck sophistication in Tyler, lots (gobs and gobs) of oil money. You'd be surprised what you end up seeing around here! BMW dealer took several Lambos on trade the other day. Go figure!

on the toy - my son has one (he's almost 3) and its his favorite (and mine too). Very well made and could end up on my desk when he's done with it.

On stoves - can't comment on Wolf but we've got a new 48" Thermador and I am very impressed so far. We have a Viking in Greenport and the Thermador just feels like better quality, at a better price point I believe (ours came with the house). Personally I'd probably buy a La Cornue on ebay and the thing would be worth more than a 90 in ten years.

They have a Rudy's I've been to a couple of times. Or at least they did last time I was there.

The next time you're in Dallas, we'll get you some premium BBQ. Pecan Lodge has some great grub, alas the lines are ridiculous. There are plenty of other options.

I saw them at the dealer the other day. It's about the coolest thing they have on the shelf now.
They used to have other cool stuff. But now not so much.
