I've gotten mine from ebay or random parts trucks. You can find them for around $100 a pop

I think I have accumulated a half dozen or so. I figure they will go up in value. Roverdude, roverguy, Paul Grant, etc.

Not really. Plenty around to buy cheap and I like to have a spare for every truck.

I told you three people to check with. If one of them does not have one I would be shocked.

Depends on your definition of 'work'. As a spare, a Disco I ECU would be good, but not for the primary ECU. Unless you have the Defender chip set, it will throw codes. IIRC, the evac systems are different leading to at least that code.

Depends on the year of the D1. 96 and part of 97 are the same. Mid 97 to 99 are different (Advanced Evap). Also needs to be put into learn mode before you can fit it the 1st time so it can sync with the 90's alarm ECU and forget the adaptive values from the donor. Or you could get it with the D1 Alarm ECU as a pair, but then you would still need to re-set the adaptive values and re-program the alarm ECU for the 90 (no remote door locks) so you're no better off.

so whats involved with educating myself about ECU programing and such? could it be compared to using a bit writer 2 on an alarm system? just curious.

Mark- the D90 is still running hard and strong...thought you might want to know!

I am sure it can be done but they are protected. Black box who make the Rovacom started out by hacking the encryption and working out how to get in an play around with the variables of the various modules.

Not sure it would be easy to do though.

Ian has it right. Get the ECU with the right chip set, then have a local indy Rover shop set it up for you as a spare.

Bill - good to hear, not surprising, but good to hear. Hope you and your family are enjoying the truck. Send me a PM with your address. I found the original window sticker and some other delivery materials I'd like to send on to you.

Mark
