Driving in and around D.C.

So you guys that are up in the neighborhood of D.C. How comfortable are you driving your 90 in the city? Any suggestions on good, and I mean safe, places to park so I can take in some of the sights?

Not worried at all when I drive in DC. Only problem I find are short parking garages.

Parking's a nightmare, especially with the height restrictions and confusing parking signs on the street.. Park outside town (Arlington, Alexandria for example) and take the Metro in. Your life will be much easier.

Parking garages are a pain in the arse, even without a roof rack?

Hi, I live downtown.

Park at haines Point (free, outdoors) and walk 20 minutes to the mall. it is right off 395 and I park there every day, never a problem in either the 109 or RRC.

I parked my softop 88 for a year or so every night on S and 16th back in 98 or so when there were still crack houses in that area. never any problem.

I park the RRC every night on the street in front of my house and no problems. Yeah if you leave a bunch of expensive looking shit on the front seat, you may experience smash and grab.

the red d90 wagon posted here a few months ago still lices on 9th street NW in a relatively high crime area, no sign of any issues w/it.

I don't think there is anty specific attraction to LR's for thieves in the US in general as there is in other parts of the world.

this is dc and there is always something flashier on the street no matter what LR you drive.

oh, parking garages can be short indeed.

paul, email me and I can direct you to haines point. are you in the area?

Thanks everyone for the info.

Dave, I am in Tulsa now but will probably be there in late summer. I will email you later today and have you get me squared away. Thanks.
