Exclamation Donations for the family of Mike VanCuren

For those of you who don't know, Mike passed away this morning unexpectedly. A paypal donation account has been opened for Windy and Mike's young daughter, Maddy. Any donation is helpful. vancurenfamilydonation@gmail.com

You all may remember Mike's bare aluminum Series on 40" tires.

To second what Joel has said Mike was a great guy and had an infectous personality.

A month a go @ the Conclave event, he talked me into a rock garden that I had twice told him I was going to shunt around. Even my 18yr old son said "if you follow this guy you are going to break your truck" but Mikes "come on Doug I'll spot you" soon had me crawling over 3ft in diameter boulders.. Sure enough playing with Mike twisted my front driveshaft in two and snapped one of my salisbury shafts.

Mike was a young guy with a very young daughter and I'm certat\in the family is in a tough spot. Mike had a massive heart attack while on a business trip to Chicago. It is my sincere hope that the ever generous Land Rover community will come to the aid of Mikes wife and young daughter.

I didn’t get to meet Mike, but my son thought his Series was Transformer quality and all so cool. Mike respond to his enthusiasm with a thumbs up in kind. It made my son’s day each time. Thoughts and prayers to the family.

I am speechless, never in my life meet a guy with such a " full of life " approach, even if my interaction with Mike was limited to the events, quite certainly has made an impression to always be remembered.

Certainly a tragedy

My deepest condolences to his loved ones

I met Mike at the Conclave. One of the nicest guys you could meet. Never would have expected this to happen to such a great guy and to a great family. My prayers and thoughts to his family.

Every time I went wheeling with mike I broke something but I've never had so much fun on the trail. His life was short but he sure seemed as though he got a lot out of the time that he had.

Didn't he give you a taillight off your truck at The Cove?

not too bad for two days....considering 1/3 of active folks on this board live in the Sandy aftermath! I'm sure more will be added this week.

Some of the NE members around here really need to toughen up when it comes to these storms! But I sure hope you're right Bill. Last year when Brad died this forum really stepped up with donations for his family. Hurricane or not, lets do the same for Mike's! Lets at least shoot for $2,000. I know his wife and parents had to fly to Chicago and then deal with getting everyone home, and I believe they are also having to deal with driving Mike's vehicle back to Richmond.

And to those of you who have made donations already, on behalf of the family and everyone involved, THANK YOU!

Yes that was me. I had to drive my 109 home in the dark and didn't want to get pulled over. He said it was "no biggie."

Crown - I really hope you are kidding. I will post pics when I have a good internet connection but the town next to us got fucked up. Pictures won't even do it justice. Big copters and army trucks all over making it feel like a war zone. I feel real bad about his death and will paypal some funds at some point but no power or heat and have been helping family and friends clean up within town. On the plus side it has been good seeing a lot of people helping each other out and the amount of giving.

But who knows I guess we are a bunch of pussy ass Yankees when it comes to hurricanes.
