On the plus side it has been good seeing a lot of people helping each other out and the amount of giving.

But who knows I guess we are a bunch of pussy ass Yankees when it comes to hurricanes.

Yes of course I was kidding. Sounds like you are having a really really rough time yourself.

I live in NC, a hurricane for us is as much a regular occurrence as a snowstorm is for you all.

No problem Joel - I've been a little on edge. Finally at a house with heat, power and internet and catching up. Keeping fingers crossed with about this storm on Weds.

Yeah, snow is no issue for most of us. I grew up in Western MA and the old man had a plow truck where I'd go out and help shovel bitd. Then in high school and college I got into snowboarding a lot. I actually look very forward to seeing the sky dumping white stuff.

Just heard that Dan is going to be bringing Mike's truck to ROTR this weekend so people can fill it with gifts for his daughter! Great idea!

That is a great idea - hoping I can get out there for ROTR. Will look for it if I do.

Please read -- memorial information is below... Also, for those attending and who have been asking what they can do to help -- if possible, we'd love for you to bring either a side dish or paper products as we anticipate hundreds of friends, family, and co-workers. his can be coordinated with Dan.

In addition to the memorial at 2pm, for those who can stay, we'll be honoring mike with a huge bon fire later that evening and BYOB. There are some hotels near by and more information will come regarding that... All my love to each of you.

Michael David VanCuren, Jr., age 38, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 1st. He is survived by his wife Windy, his daughter Maddy, and many other loving family members.

Mike was a graduate of The New Community School in Richmond, Virginia and an Account Manager for SSI Packaging. Mike was a devoted son, husband, and father who lived life to its fullest each and every day.

He was passionate about life in every aspect, whether it was his deep love for sharing adventures with Windy and Maddy, mountain biking in the deserts of Utah, rock crawling with his Land Rover buddies, or helping clients succeed while doing a job he loved. He leaves a legacy of love and was a friend to many, from Finland to Australia to Texas and Virginia and beyond.

Mike shared himself in a genuine and selfless way with all who knew him, and Mike's family takes great comfort in the fact that he lives on in the hearts of those fortunate to have known him.

According to his wishes, Mike's body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 2pm. The service will take place at a dear friend’s to celebrate his life – 11263 Moffett Lane, Unionville, VA 22567.

For those attending service, there will be space for camping on site. Also, the Comfort Inn in Orange will have a discounted rate (540-672-3121)
Those wishing to tow your Rover, there will be an area for tow rig parking. Please follow the signs.

^^ Thanks Rick, for hosting the memorial yesterday ^^

It was a beautiful day to celebrate Mike's life.

And Chapman came through with some awesome bbq to feed the masses.
I'm guessing there was 150 people attending.

I just heard about his passing yesterday- Ive been off of D-90 for a while since I moved to Germany and have been busy with work and such.

He was a great guy indeed, and I am very sorry and shocked to hear he passed away.
