Dog Pictures/Stories

So last Saturday I'm sittin' in the Vet's office waiting and there's a book called Dog Stories on the table. I start leafing through it and there's a great story about a guy who's German Shepherd is dying and he wants to take him on one last road trip. In his D-90 of course! Looks like a 94 ST. He outfits the D90 with special seats for the dog and they drive from D.C. to Alaska! I can't imagine driving that far in a ST. Great pics of them on the Alcan highway. Anyway, I thought it was cool.

I seem to remember reading that article in a Rovers North publication? The dog was so ill that in the end he had to "manually" aid the dog to urinate and/or defecate.

Yeah I remember reading that in the Rovers North newspaper. All I could think is from DC to Alaska the dog was thinking go ahead and kill me already. What a long drive in a soft top!

You put up with the noise, heat, cold and leaks running around town, you can adjust for the long trips. Just put an extra layer on, crank up the stereo and get on rolling and dont sweat the little things. The reward you feel of getting there in it makes it that much better.

My dogs love to ride in the truck with me, but I know that even they hate to ride a thousand miles much less like 8000 miles. My dogs would commit mutiny on the 110, and leave me curbside.

My border collie loved being my co-pilot. Didnt really matter how long he was in the seat because once we stopped, he actually figured out that the front driver slide window he could get open and hop over the sterring wheel and join me up trail. man he was an awesome little trail dog.

Ah, yes. Its nice to see "some" people on this board are willing to obide by the rules. I think it to be in good taste that you preserved that "bitches" identity CVC.

Puppy and I drove from Philadelphia to Niagara falls and back in the 94. Started out well enough, then somewhere near scranton it got really cold and started to rain so I put the soft top on (forgot drivers side DOH!). Puppy gives me the "oh shit dad" look as we head off. Had not fixed the heat at this point. Well at 89 MPH with no door seals the rain comes in and soaks her and me. I have only a light coat but I have a blanket. Well she thought she HAD a blanket and persisted in pulling it away from me. By the end of the trip she was riding on my lap (she is 90lbs) draped over the center consol under the blanket and we were both shivering.

Push foot to floor and watch the speed climb. Been there a couple times with gear for the weekend in the 90 covered in mud, and once in front wheele drive. But for those without a Canadian NAS 90, you need to get the cold start eprom that Ron knows about.

I pretty much drove 89mph the whole time I was on the highway until I chipped it with a disco chip (I put the stocker back in when I sold it so I could have it for my 110 ).

My 94 had a very strong engine and had street tires. Vrooooooommm. Felt quite comfortable, if loud at that speed. On 81/476/95 -- 85mph is about the average speed for many of the drivers.

If some more people post up pictures and/or stories of their rovers in Rovers then I will make this thread a sticky.

I can add a few, although not my rover or Rover. So we have the sandwich eating, mud loving Zach in the Red Defender (Ken Ls Dog) and And the football fetching I'll sleep in the Disco Dog (Trevor Gs dog).
