Do-it-Yourself Garage In NOVA..anyone here used it?

Has anyone been to this place? http://www.ditymechanics.com/index.html

Im thinking of installing an ome HD lift as well as flushing diff fluids and doing the brakes, and this would be convenient for me.

They have car lifts, and tools available and the rate isnt too expensive.

Wondering if anyone has any experiences with this place, either good or bad?

I've heard of those in the UK and they're great for apt dwellers like myself. Thanks for the link I'll check it out.

I have not, but my buddy Justin Green (on D90 occasionally) has. Did some work on his Disco - doing muffler replacement I believe. He said it was great. Guys who work there enjoy coming around and giving advice or a helping hand too, without actually getting in the way.

Many Army posts also have a shop like that as a community service for military personnel and families. I know there is one at Ft Bragg.

Well, it would certainly add up for a long project. Do they charge for fridge space for your beer supply? OTOH it would be nice to have a dry, heated, covered, well-lit space with an actual floor. My vehicles would be much more well-maintained during the dark winter months. I wouldn't bother flu$hing the diffs. Just drain and refill with regular gear oil.

Checked it out today with a friend of mine.
I'm a big fan. The owner was a nice guy (loved the rover), had every tool I needed for what I did (which wasn't that much, but he had a good amount of specialty tools as well). Big fan of this business. I used one of the the 2 post frame lifts, but they had a drive on 4-post, and a few smaller drive-on lifts too. Air tools available too.

I changed my leaking rear shock, the rearmost U-joint, oil change and a few little things.

MUCH nicer than my apt parking lot, well lit and had basic fluids, etc avail if needed. Didn't nickle and dime at all, IMO.
Recommended.

Actually Bragg technically has two and if you include Pope it has 3. One on what use to be Coscom side, one over in 82nd territory and one on Pope itself.

I looked into the shop for my recent engine replacement. As Ren Ching stated, the $$$ added up too fast for a long term project. However, if I had a one day type of thing that needed some extra tools (exhaust work is a prime candidate) then I might give this anohter look.

Nice to hear good things about the shop. Ill be using it in a week or two for brakes, fluids, muffler/exhaust work and oil cooler lines. I could do this stuff in a driveway, but it is a PIA to have to jack the vehicle up four times for each corner, and welding on your back isnt fun.

yeah it'll be perfect for that. The lighting, rolling carts for tools/parts and being able to stand made all the difference in the world. Its funny how fast you can change your oil when you're not trying desperately to not get a drop on your apt complex parking lot...
