Discoweb? Not so much :(

I sold the Defender, bought a Disco2, so I have been spending more time on DiscoWeb recently. I am not liking it as much as D-90 Source. Some of the guys on there are just plain rude. Heaven forbid you should ask a question that was covered in a post 2 years before. Yeah, I know how to search. Maybe you could spend the time answering my question instead

I miss my Defender. But, I think I am going to miss you guys even more!

Guess what I am saying is that this is a great community, with some great people active within it. Seeing some other forums has really made me realize that.

Yeah there is some crap that goes on here (insert davenport joke) but nothing like discoweb. Guys are pure douchebags. In fact if you look up some of the biggest assholes on this site you will notice they are discoweb pricks. Like that douche i was fighting with about my 110.

Just post in the misc section here. I am sure there are enough people to help you with your disco needs.

Two different worlds my friend and I will refrain from making more comments.

Try Land Rover Repair Forums... www.lrrforums.com

I love that site, there is no BS and the guys are very helpful.

I call DiscoWeb...DickheadWeb, for a reason. Greg, you know that you will have another Defender in 6 months, so just stay here. Most, if not all of the guys here, have several rovers, so your D2 stuff will be covered.

Greg, it is like a FRAT HOUSE there, you must pass the initiation ritual, if you survive they will welcome you.

Over there.... well there is nothing like

I'll take it, and later Back out of a deal
Praise a POS truck to spare the owner the feelings
Give you a BS answer on a much needed advice

But I have to tell you, they are great people, even the ones that are perceived here as Douche, they are not.

Believe me , I know !!!!

Don't let a bad experience stop you from getting the resources ( there are plenty in there ) and don't leave D-90 either

Don't worry guys, I always hit d-90.com first, it is in my blood. And I know a lot of the tech is interchangeable.

My main point for posting this was not to trash Discoweb, but more to praise d-90 source. Good bunch of guys here.

Just got a bad vibe from all the guys parting out trucks on D-web that want top dollar for everything and then won't haggle on the price. And then are rude about it. Just a different atmosphere over there.

Top dollar on dweb??? huh...there are some of the cheapest bastards on the planet there. If you need used parts (or even new), you can't beat drillbit's (aka Marty) prices. I picked up a low mileage LT230 for 100 bucks...

Take it for what it's worth. Guy's will tell you to search because it's the best way of getting the info you need and not re-hashing the same topic's over and over again. Most who bitch about being told to search are too lazy to look for the info (not implying you).

Goose, did I fall into that category

The parts there are some of the least expensive to be had.

Will Tillery and others are top flight used parts suppliers.

Searching is advised as most topics have been covered ad nauseum.

If you can't take the heat.............. ;-)

All good points. I appreciate the comments. But not many guys buying Defenders and parting them out around here. Mostly enthusiasts that buy/sell/trade parts. It's different when you are doing it to make a living. Like I said, just different around here. I'm sure I'll get used to it, just like my 30-minute commute sucked at first, but now I am used to it.

Maybe they need someone like Horsey over there that will pull up archived posts from 42 years ago that cover the specific topic asked within 12 seconds of the questions being posted. Now that's the ticket!

$400 for the CDL linkage from an '04? That is not cheap, sorry. Especially when they seemed to be selling in the $300 range, which is already pretty steep. I get the whole "supply and demand" side of it, but cheap is not in that equation as far as I am concerned. It's greed.

Can't take the heat? That is my point, why do I need to take any heat?

And $6 for lug nuts. Those are standard prices, not "least expensive".

I agree. Discoweb blows. I don't even bother any more, and had my fill of it long before I got rid of my last Disco.

But I am talking shit in a different way. Saying horsey was molested by his uncle and my mom with parkinsons disease rhinolined his truck is different than just being a douche on for sale threads for no reason. Really 95% of anything I say is related to horsey or that wrangler lover John.
I am here to amuse

Who are these prices from? This reminds me when I worked at a large hunting and fishing store that ran pretty good prices. Bubba: 'Bargain Barn (which is 110 miles away) has this same gun for $50 less.' Me: 'You'll burn more than $50 in fuel and time getting there. And then they may not have it in stock.' Bubba: 'Uh, okay.'

That is to say, the key used vendors at dweb, Will Tillery, Marty aka Drillbit and a few others will get you exactly what you need at a fair price. If you want to spend less with a no-name parts puller with no reputation to uphold, then have at it.

I'm not trying to be a pr!ck here; maybe it's just my d-web pedigree ;-)

And the 'heat' comment was partially in jest.

Try lrrforums.com , it is a useful tech and banter site without any vinegar.

Stu,

As they say, "it's is all good". I can't remember meeting anyone (in person) that is a Rover nut like me that I haven't liked. Meeting them in person is different than meeting them in a Forum like this. I am not judging anyones character, or personality. I am sure most of these guys are great guys, and I really do hope to meet them one day. I am sure I will. Hell, I may already have wheeled with them and not know'd it. For whatever reason, the tone on the Dweb seems to be different than the overall tone here.

I am really not looking for "coddling", "hand holding" or "advice" really. I am a big boy and I can give and take abuse with the best of them. And my comment about people being immediately chastised for asking questions was not because it happened to me. In fact, most of the times I search for something, the threads that come up are "did you do a search for that" and then no quality answer or commentary is provided.

Like I have said, my post was just to commend this site for its community atmosphere. And the comic relief provided by Barry is just a big bonus.

And those prices were from Drillbit and Randy. Two of the most "respected" chop shop-ers out there, so I am told.

Dweb is food fight, sometime it's fun, sometime it's not, depends on your needs, you just have to know about it
