disco sighting

Today I saw a white Disco with a RTT and Utah plates on California Hwy 1 just North of Santa Cruz by Davenport. Anybody here?

I was on my bicycle so didn't wave.

Sort of on-topic, but it's to the point now where when I see an early D1 in stock condition I sort of get "excited" and race up to it almost ready to take pics. The irony is, generally I'm in either the 90 or 130 and it's funny that the tables have turned.

Should we turn this into a D1-sightings thread?

A few weeks back I saw a nice D1 that was loaded with all the period correct Safari Gard upgrades and Rancho shocks. I'm generally not a Disco guy but that one looked pretty good

No pictures unfortunately. This sightings thread could really turn around if we had a few.

I see Disco's every day when I go out. Most are grocery getters, I rarely see one kitted out, that's why I posted up. Maybe there should be a kitted up Disco sightings thread?

If Pendy would finish mine up, I could post mine. Maybe he would be so kind as to snap a shot and post.

The pictures I have are all on film. None digital.

Mine is white with the factory option brush guard and winch. Has the dealer offered rack. SG rockslides. And of course Tdi conversion with 5 speed.

I've gotten the same way. The D1 by today's standards throws a simple vibe which is cool.

Finding an unmolested D1 these days is near impossible, and the ones you find are starting to be like decent RRC's-not quite the same price range (yet) but creeping up.

Long gone are the days of $500 D1s that are not total basket cases for the most part.

True. I'm hoping if my next PCS is to cali I can find a smog failure and register it in Texas. Of it the UK find a nice 300tdi 3 door. If it's Japan find a nice 3 door as well. Probably will be Kansas. Sad face.

I have started looking at ebayuk from time to time to see if there are any almost decent tdi's as the D1's start to hit importability-a 3 door would be cool for dedicated 2 person trekking.

I picked up my D1 for around 2K. It was mechanically sound and had 8 years of documentation. Only issue it really had was it didnt start well. Some used P38 injectors solved the issue. I will probably replace the dash with a DII dash since mine is all warped.

I just need to pull the carpet and fix the rust spots and plan to repaint the truck. Its my daily driver 50 miles round trip everyday.

If I could do it over, I would have picked up a White '95 SD without sunroofs.

Flashback Friday!!!!

I miss that truck. Trans shit itself when I PCSed to England. Parted it out. Should have converted it to diesel and 5 speed but the 90s and 110s were so cheap and abundant.

My favorite final memory of it was when it passed the MoT with an advisory for the bumper. Something to the effect of front bumper designed to inflict bodily harm.
