Tell him to google "three amigos". Lots of info in web about those issues.

Front Drive shaft's like to go out due to location of u-joint being close to catalytic converters. Check under transmission for any evidence of the shaft slapping the tranny. Also check discoweb.org, it's like here but for Disco's.

Head gaskets, front cover gasket, radiator leaks (lift up on top hose and look through the fan shroud), leaking rear hubs, and the biggest thing in my opinion, sunroof leaks. The sunroofs are no longer available through Land Rover, and every used one I put on usually leaks.

Most of the time the three amigos are related to connector issues and can be repaired by simply bypassing the connectors for the hubs, or the shuttle valve switches. Brake squeal can also cause the three amigos.

Thanks guys. Yes on the sunroofs..... Yeas ago I had a '95 Disco. Sunroofs (dual) were horrible! Ended up duct taping them and popping the fuses. My dad bought a '95 Disco new. Had the sunroofs in for warranty work 6 times....
