These are popping up under 5K. I am getting interested in picking one up just for fun.

Kind of a Disco90.

I would think the fake porthole things would peel off.

And no leaky sunroofs!

Very cool and interesting! What years did they make those? All 300's? Every time I see a 300 disco pop up, it was a conversion and they want $10k-$15k+

And holy crap I can't stand those vatozone vents. I even see them on classy vehicles now! What a shame.

300 TDi started in 94, prior to that (89-93) they were 200 TDi's.

A 3 door would make a great wheeling truck, though I think many would find the novelty wearing off after a bit if you intend to carry more than one other person.

Would be a lot of fun to grab a nice 5 speed TDi to build out though.

The perfect Disco- crank Windows (rears were never manual on 5 doors, hence seperate ECU), no sunroof, and manual seats! Basicly a 100" Defender- and no second row doors is the same as a 110 3-door minus the 'ventilation'. Oh, and a functional dash with a/c- what's the down side- too cheap?!

I have had my eye out for a non-rusty LHD disco import, but have not seen any around.

I used to own a three door. Great truck. No problem accessing the back seats. They have a nice system to move the passenger seat out of the way.

Discos were better sellers, especially the 200 tdi vintage trucks.

Look in S.France, Portugal, Spain for lhd rust free ones.

Jason Lavender and I were just talking about early diesel Discos and a possible U.S. market for them last Thursday . . . if these are, as I suspect, far, far less desirable than Defenders in Europe, one might be able to make good money buying early rust-free 200TDis (and, soon, 300s) and importing them.

All we need to find is a country with a dry climate, far from the ocean, with a clunker law that encourages people unload 27 year old vehicles for next to nothing. . .

I've got a 300TDi Disco, with which I'm deeply in love. Would be great to be able to get stock ones. I think if one could turn a profit selling them for 8k (or even 10?) or so, one would have buyers lined up out the door.

I think that's where they originated. Most of those google images of gti's on Mondials are from the 90's and early 2k.
