Did Safari HP lose Exmoor Trim USA?

Exmoor Trim USA used to be run by Safari HP (not all that long ago). Looks like it's now RN? When did this happen? And how.

Steve and I bantered about it when I was in DC in September and here on 23 September. Id heard things were moving and shaking when I visited the Safari crew in Orlando in July. Wonder why/how this went down.

RN bitched about the other sellers and got their way.

No proof but I've always suspected Exmoor makes the RN knock off NAS Badger top.

Don't get me wrong, I like RN, but they are ruthless when it comes to crushing any competition from the little guys and complained to several UK vendors about a few vendors on this board.

RN was in an excellent position to seal a deal with them.

I've always liked RN and I don't know any of the details. Being the exclusive vendor can dictate what you will prices you can/will charge. And I like to rotate where I buy from.

That said, I have ordered many items directly from the UK and was able to get cheaper pricing with the shipping. I saved quite a lot with my exmoor seat trims that way.

As a high quality alternative to Exmoor try these guys:

http://www.comptons2000.co.uk

They are an OEM supplier to LR and UK MOD.

Most items are made to order. They can also do custom stuff.

That is not the case, people may actually believe you and that's how rumors are started.

They don't make it, and it's not a knock off of Badger.

Although that gets said all the time, it's simply not true.

Yeah, unclear what happened. I think I was one of the last to get lock & folds from Stephen and was given their Exmoor trim USA prices, which were great. Then a few weeks later, RN has the exact same ones for sale at about 17% more. Whatever.

They appear to rope in the big Rover brand name products and usually charge more than what I can easily find state-side or drop-ship. I don't knock them for trying to corner the market on great products, but I won't buy from them because they're typically more expensive.

Again, fill in the gaps.

X2, saying 'That's not true' with no explanation is about that same as saying nothing at all.

I don't think its fair to expect Zack to fill in the gaps. It isn't his job to act as liasion and let us know the inside working of RN. My company is not well liked in my hometown and I dont necessarily agree with what they are doing there, but I will not make excuses nor put them down to my family and friends there. It could get back to my employer. I like getting paid.

I have enjoyed dealing with SafariHP so I hate to see them get cut out for any reason, but in the end business is business. It becomes a bigger problem when we get stuck with the pricetag.

I hear that alot when it comes to pricing...I'd rather keep it in my account than theirs, that said RN offers great service IMO. I'll pay the 17% if I don't have to wait two weeks plus for an email, refund, or replacement product...

and don't forget that they support the hobby/industry with the mag full of good articles and sponsorship's...just sayin (and no I don't have a share interest in RN).

Small points to consider.

I'm with that, I actually appreciate RN as a company and the fact that they keep their site up to impeccable standards and are easy to reach and responsive ect.

That '17%' might seem like a markup to most but it is the cost of keeping products in stock and employees on the phone (also heating a building in VT). SO really if I want something next day and I have to have it then RN is an excellent resource for parts and experienced salespeople.

They might've had nothing to do with Safari's exit from Exmoor, and I appreciate that Zack, while he may be informed or not, needs to keep that part of the business out of the forum and not speculate. It's just that inquiring minds want to know, and saying 'nut-uh' is akin to saying nothing at all.

Competition is a great part of a free market. Single source is a kick in the balls.
I still act like a 5 year old when the RN catalog comes
