The funny looking thing in RBBaileys post is indeed an UMM.

It really is amazing how many of them you see when there. Although I got about 60 or 70 in pics, I must have seen four or five times that many. Only a few of those on the road were "junky" looking. Even the hard working ones looked well cared for. Then you find a dealership, and it's just another thing entirely.

Spotted at Hale Street Restaurant last night (Sunday night the 18th), Beverly MA. Very minty NAS 110. I was in the white LR4 parked behind you on the street. We popped in for some sushi.

Nice, I'm sure we'll bump into each other if he goes there regularly.

Umm... what is it? Yes.

Good pun! That is a UMM Alter 2, a Portuguese 4x4, supposedly a pretty capable one. Bity of a parts bin machine using some Jeep, Peugeot and propriety mechanicals, Bosch electricals, Hella lenses, etc., at least the ones I've seen. I came really close to buying one of the ~5 or so in the US before finally deciding that it would probably be to much of an irritation to deal with (parts, etc.). But if the right nice one ever presents itself....

I believe this one has been for sale for a while, or sold a few times within the past few years and I thought I read somewhere it is a bit rusty. Like to see someone save it though.

Defender Convoy!!

On Sunday about 4:10pm, my son and I were travelling in Toronto on highway 401 (east) when we passed these Defenders in the express lanes just south of Pearson Airport. As you can see from the mudflaps, they were keeping up with traffic. I tried to get the attention of the young lady that was driving but to no avail. What a beautiful sight!! When we went passed these LR's, we passed another 90 Td5 being trailered in the collector lanes! Does anyone know the story behind this rare site???

a young lady driving a 130 and towing a 90? might be the best sighting of all time.
