I've got a friend in NH with a willow green nas truck with galvy everything. I think the contrast makes it look awesome, other people aren't as enthusiastic about it.

BMW bought Rover in 94 so all the cuts weren't their fault. That was all stuff already in motion. They didn't help or hurt the defender. Ford on the other hand did improve things such as the manual process for making doors and hoods and brought in galvanized skins, etc.

BMW did use the range rover tech in the X5 though.

The E53 was developed at a time when BMW owned Land Rover and benefitted from Land Rover technology.[6] It shared components with the Land Rover Range Rover HSE model; specifically the Hill Descent System and Off Road Engine Management.

That is what I am talking about. Looks awesome. Would love to see more photos of that truck if you have any. I have a willow green truck and might consider doing that to my cage down the road when the powder coat needs refreshing.

Yup! Contrast makes all the difference! Of course my comments are hypocritical as I'm black in beluga, but that willow/galvi looks killer!

It does look nice. Thinking there is a Chicago based Doc who restored a light green NAS and galvanized the cappings and other bits. I looked great. One of my favorite Ds on this forum. If interested in finding him, search for a thread on the safety on rearward facing rear bench seats over forward. A lot when into his position.

Every time the company has been for sale, quality drops to a new low to improve profitability.
The 80's vintage trucks were the best, its been a slippery slope since. Early body panels were even thicker. I can bend a td5 vintage wing by looking @ it.

Nothing beats some of the stuff from the '80s. Look at an 80s benz. The thing has 500 layers of paint. Can't say that anymore.

As odd as that phrase sounds I have to agree.

- Classic 900 Saabs - yes glitchy in ways but that dash and the way they drove
- W123 Benz are tanks
- Volvo 2 series especially a 245
- American trucks
- E30 M3

Probably the last era of cars with soul.

The thing that is amazing about all these cars is how big the windows seem. Last time I was in an E30 I was shocked at just how much glass was in the car. Seemed like you could really see more. It might just be the glass was flat but either way it was awesome.

Same with the Volvos and Saabs of that time IIRC. You could fit a ton into those cars as well.

It also goes to the point I was making in the ICON thread. Nothing more than toaster ovens since mid 1990s. Some are fancy, some are fast, but they are mostly toaster ovens.

Bet you were shocked at how small an E30 as well. Ditto for the 64.5 - 66 Mustang.

Be interested in meeting up with your friend in the Willow NAS truck for some trail driving in NH. I live there and only know a couple of people with NAS Defenders in State but hadn't seen this one.

YES...I am always shocked at how small blokes must have been back in the day (aka Series) to design cars with such little leg room.

I can never bring myself to buy a new vehicle (for me) these days....I wish I still had my 1986 Saab 900 Turbo - I loved that car. Maybe I should buy one....NOT!!! Another unreliable car hahaha

It actually didn't feel bad at all. Size was great. Probably the size of a 1 or 2 series now. Would love a nice one.
