Tom claims it was him but he drives a green truck. My poor mom and her blurry vision. She did still pull a sighting out so that is impressive.

What is a 'Y' plate and why is it ironic?

I 'Y' plate denotes a car registered in 1982 in the UK ... car's get a plate when new and it stays with them for life ( with a few exceptions ).

This truck wasn't from 1982 ... more like 2002 .... hence the irony.

Not all case but quite often 'restoration' = VIN swapped import ... read the whats legal thread ...

Did it actually have US plates too, and the Y plate just as a "decorative" front? Or was it sporting full time UK plates?

it had a US plate over the top of the UK plate ... I never understood that trend .... I see it in the city all the time on Euro imports.

Hey maybe I'm wrong and it was a great restoration ... I think the VIN swap issue just bugs me personally! ;-)

Well in 1982 they didn't even make Defenders yet...so that would be one heck of a restoration

Hmmm...that's interesting. I also pulled up the main website based on the shirts & vehicle stickers shown in the pic:
http://www.nolimitx.com/

Never heard of this outfit before, but sounds pretty cool.

James "JPBrown" is a member of the forum and is the one all the way on the right in that pic. He's sold some nice trucks here in the past, including Woody's "SeattleRRC" nice black one a few pages back in this thread.

I have a bunch of Mountain Khaki stuff as it holds up really well for the use I give them.

MK always have ads in Overland Journal with a Defender here and there.

Thanks for the info. I read through some of the threads and it was all interesting. I am not looking for an import so this stuff shouldn't affect me but cool to know anyway.

Same Blue truck again, but had a closer look at the rear section and saw that it is not a 95 or 97 but an import with a different pattern of tail lights.

Ha!

Thanks for the shout out! I think I've seen that one around, but not for a long time. I saw Gary pulling into Lowe's the other day but I was slammed for time and didn't stop to introduce myself (and I was driving the Pathfinder).

Saw a yellow ST driving down the 115 here in Colorado Springs today. I was in my truck and we waved at each other. Anyone here?
