Q: NICE TRUCK! WHAT YEAR IS IT?
A: "It's a....uh....1983..........from France. Bought it off eBay."

Q: OK. WHAT ENGINE?
A: "V8 (starts engine which is clearly a diesel). For sale if you like it....$95k."

Funny how LR continues to milk their classic heritage while at the same time completely moving away from it and gutting their supporters (enthusiasts and clubs).

Same pathetic as usual big business marketing bullshit.

You make a very good point, but perhaps Gerry McGovern and Co finally have got the message with the Defender replacement as LR are reported to have buried that TERRIBLE DC100 project Icon incarnation. The Series/Defender concept is brilliant already, they need to get behind it and produce one for the 21st century.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing - I recall fondly how I went to LR Alexandria 6 years ago and they said "we don't stock parts for the Defender any longer" yet they were happy to promote the hell out of old-timey trucks at the drop of a hat. Thanks, Don Beyer.

Rosenthal Jaguar/Land Rover sends out postcards with a blingy NAS look alike puma 90 on the front, and puma 90 wagon on the back. I don't think they could spell Defender, let alone maintain one. Nor could they sell you either of these vehicles. So yeah, selling some sort of dream to the same folks who are pleased to see they have free wifi and a refreshments bar that includes gourmet coffees and teas, filtered water and soft drinks. I just want a competent mechanic!

Do they allow you to wear sandals inside?

No idea - I don't go inside Seriously, LR has pissed me off to the point where I won't let them touch my car. Not even to put on tires and do an alignment on an LR4.

It wouldn't make sense to stock parts for a Defender. Dealerships work on so few Defenders it would be a complete waste of space. The dealership can have parts in two days for free, or overnight them for a 10% charge. Also, most people that are bringing their Defender to the dealership don't daily drive it, so it doesn't matter if they have to wait a day or two for the vehicle to be fixed.

That hurts my feelings. They also said I was ugly.

Spotted this Series in the garage of a house that recently came on the market. Looks like it has company with a 1985-ish Toyota Supra and a Porsche.
