Saw this at the Arlington Courthouse this morning (I'm on jury duty). Talked to the woman driving it, she bought it new in '97 and claimed that it was the last one imported. It was #1829.

I wonder how she came up with that little bit of info. It's obviously not an exact science, but there were at least 670 more 1997 ST and SWs in 1997 with plaque numbers higher than 1829 since they went all the way up to 2499 (2499 minus 1829 = 670). And that doesn't even include the 500 1997 D90 LE's that were imported. So that makes 1,170 or so that could have been imported after hers. It's always nice to meet someone who has owned one since new though.

SALDV3240VA126471'97 SW#300/300Willow

Looks to be the last based on the vin.

Hey, I'm not saying I believed her! Do I remember that the plaque numbers were only vaguely correlated to VIN sequence?

I ran across this land Rover when on Safari. Spent a couple of days riding on the roof taking pictures and spent the nights drinking beer with the guides and talking about Land Rovers.

That is the fog light, indicating it is RHD.

The red bullet markers are the brake lights.

Got it thanks. I feel like those are small as hell, and would be hard to recognize as break lights...

That's one thing I will agree with DOT on, when I look at the back of a ROW truck, I think the fog light is a break light, and those small ass round lights are just markers. That seems like a liability for sure.

I have a ROW and feel the same way. The fog lights even confused me when I first got it. NAS lights are on the to-do list.

Im pretty sure that its a completely different setup. Yours should be based on the rollcage where theirs is based on collapsible sticks and rods. Think there was an article in one of the rover mags years ago about it.
