RN's vehicles are here as part of their export vehicle program. They stopped doing it for a good decade or more but have recently picked it back up. As such they are allowed to have vehicles here but are not allowed to sell them. I suspect they also have to send them back or export them at some point.

I just don't get how that business model works for them. Why would someone come to RN in North America for a 110 fitted to client specs, when almost every other country in the world has legal new Defenders available and specialty outfitters locally? who are their clients and how is it cost effective to ship the vehicle in and out on top of whatever it is they do?

I know US special forces uses Defenders in Southwest asia, and maybe it's appealing to some of the other big DOD contractors that are operating in far off places. They're obviously making money enough to do it, but I"ll admit, curiosity has the better of me. They are obviously not putting any credentials (clients) on their site.

AFAIK the vehicles are shipped directly from LR to the country of use. I'm not sure what the appeal is, though I guess it does give a US-based agency or organization the opportunity to deal with a US-based vendor instead of buying from a random dealer, or other foreign entity such as Conrico or the like.

Or maybe the business model doesn't really work but it does allow them to drive around in 2010 LR's so they do it anyway.

Saw a White Defender 110 NAS (first 110 I've seen in a good 6 months) parked at the Darien CT train station today and a yellow ST 90 parked at a marina in South Norwalk while I was on the train to pick up my truck from the shop in fairfield.

I figured that they did this so that a U.S. based company working outside the U.S. can deal with a Rover company here in the States. Plenty of U.S. business with operations outside the country.

There are quite a few D-90s in Alexandria, I would guess 10 or so.

The green one is usually parked on a corner in old down, a block or so from King Street- nice truck.

Saw a new to the area white NAS 110 this morning-

Talking Caught 2 rovers and threw the bent's and maserati back

Seeing all kinds of cars today 2 Bentleys's, 2 door Maserati, and two, count them, two 90's.

The white hard top one was a 95 parked across from Bobby's Burgers at Monmouth mall. The guy that owned was a red headed fellow and had just purchased in the past year or so i believe (my father talked to him mostly) from someone in Utah or Idaho. Had less then 60,000 miles on it. When he purchased it. Gave him the house number and told him about the forum.

The other i spotted was a red 94 soft top with a serious wax job. Looked pretty standard thou and that was in Red Bank on Front street parked next to a restaurant by the antique district.

Saw 2 D-90s yesterday - a white one with a roof rack towing a bike on Route 50 going east north of Middleburg @11am and a dark green one in front of Middleburg school @noon. Waved to the driver of the dark green one and he waved back.

Drag Landy - Let's Go Racing!

Found this different kind of Series. What do you think, Mike, can ECR build it?

Saw a red D90 ST west of the Eisenhauer tunnel on I-70 today, at around 2:30PM. You were loaded down with several bikes and a bunch of other stuff, headed west. I was stuck in a rental car in that endless traffic jam that stretched from Copper Mountain to Denver. I wished I could have traded places with you.
