Oh, don't get me wrong...my 110 is total mall cruiser. Daily driver at the moment for me actually. My 90 and 88 have patina. So I'm guilty of both! Just saying I'm really digging those that look well-weathered and have been around the block. Like when you see a nice GS1200 parked on the side of the street that looks like it's been around the world, it makes you want to say "f" it and quit the day job and drive to South America on a motorcycle. Ahhh....someday!

just screwin with you...my truck is normally, abnormally spotless, to the extend a board member here (to remain un named) (but he likes guns) has said to me three times, man I wish I could keep my truck that clean! But he ought to see it now. I havent washed it since NM. Thats all bad...

Also spotted at Jones Beach today was this pristine vehicle which sported a series badge on the grille. Not sure what to make of it...

Exactly! I love the way my series looks with the shotty paint, minor dents, oxidation, and faded galvy, and just coats of roller paint (not as fond of the latter). Everyone always comments on how cool it looks the way it is. I just want a used straight limestone tub for it (mines patched and dented, and i would be pretty content with the exterior.

I believe i read somewhere by maybe James May that he drove around in a new defender and got out and said it didn't feel right because it had all these modern amenities and fresh paint, and that to truly have a great defender it needs to be aged 20 years or so, which i suppose can be related too wine, but i still buy that stuff by the box. :D

I totally agree about the patina but the red one in SF was a bit more. It looked like it went from a bad ass off road vehicle to a tore up construction truck with trash tile in the back and 2x4 cut offs in the passenger foot well. The seats were destroyed and the Tuffy is rusting away.

Knowing your propensity to do such things, do we need to have an intervention?

Spotted this morning in Corolla, Nc. Not far behind was a DII on a tow truck. Sorry for the zoomed in pic, I was on the deck.

I'm discovering the same thing in Newport since moving here. (Seeing a bunch of Ds driving around more than I'm used to.)

I've seen Steve (ssbartley1) a few times around town and on base, one or two other 90s and a gray RHD 110 on base, and one day about two weeks ago, I saw five different D90s aver the course of about an hour.

As Steve noted above, I've visited the guys at RSV in Jamestown a couple of times, and they seem super cool and have a bunch of beautiful Rovers there. If I continue to slack on getting my 4.6 swap done, I may just have Richard do it this winter.

Yes, I have no photos of any of this to show, as I never remember to take one until the opportunity has passed. You probably don't want me trying to figure out my camera phone to take your photo while I'm driving anywhere near you.

Hey, welcome to Newport. I saw your rig at the O club a few weeks ago-

Im finishing up MAWS and will be heading out soon....so you will have the only Portofino in Newport, very shortly.

Youve got a Rover though- freakin' huge.... it makes mine Defender look stock!

Good luck at the War College....great program

Funny!

I'm a 2013 MAWS guy. I guess we both were at the meet-n-greet a few weeks ago and didn't even know it.

That was me that waved at you from my 94 yellow/black soft top (not so huge) about a week or so ago on East Main, and my girlfriend (a big Defender fan who grew up traveling with them in South Africa when young) saw your truck drive by while we were having dinner downtown last Thursday. She did the super doubletake, thinking mine had been swiped.

I have, however seen one of the Jack Wills clothing store ones a couple of times. (The pink/blue striped RHD ones with the Union Jack-painted hood, usually accompanied by cute girls.) It parks or drives around somewhat near the downtown Newport store area, and I saw one as recently as about four days ago.

I remember seeing a link here that one was for sale a few weeks ago in MA. That was not this one, so there are still at least two of these floating around, as seen in ECR and RN posts some time ago.
