It would seem that they decided to widen the body so that they could fit the seats

Don't your keys work on the doors? I want to see what engine and stuff. Are the footwells wider? Are the dash and A/C unit the same width as ours? It looks shorter maybe from the driver side? Can't tell.

Are they the stock axles with just super offset rims to make up for the lack in width on them? Kinda looks like it.

I want this thing.

I find it....curiously cool.
Looks well looked after! Probably a piece of LR history if it was made for the Hummer contract.

Unfortunately it is locked...but I'm sure Harvey will let me crawl through it when he's back.

Dash is normal width, the last interior shot I tried to get shows there's a cup holder on each side (presumably for your beer).

Quick look appears there are spacers on the wheels but it was tough to tell.

I have a feeling from the rumor that I heard awhile back that Harrison's Motor Sports (Harveys shop) is the one that did the fabrication. Though that would certainly conflict with the other story, and I have no facts to base that on yet.

Harvey did say the owner uses it as a hunting rig for the woods. License plate was "Coal" so guessing that's where the owners cash came from.

Or perhaps the powerplant under that hood - we'll never know until you break in!

Curious to know what that toggle-looking switch is to the right of the gear shifter.

Will call it the 'mystery nipple' for now

Clearly a Bond type feature, maybe machine gun..... of course all rovers already have the built in oil slick feature.

Back to the double-wide.

Alright, haven't talked directly to the Harvey but talked to my relative that knows him well and here is the scoop I got.

All work was done by Harvey/Harrisons Motorsports custom for the owner of the Greenbriar Resort. Apparently the owner is a larger-than-life guy...like 6'8" and 300lbs, and a billionaire, named - get this - Jim Justice (you cannot make this stuff up). To have room to "stretch out" and fit his large figure he had the work done by Harrison's. Essentially this guy has the "how much money can I throw at this problem" mentality (used to be my motto back in my single days before wife/kids came into the picture ), and contracted Harrisons to customize this toy for him.

I'll verify with Harvey when I finally catch up with him in person.

Interesting

Nice.

http://www.forbes.com/profile/jim-justice/

It mentions the hunting and coal and stuff.

I guess that 300 pounds would help explain the driver seat being all wrinkly??

"Justice enjoys hunting, coaching the girls' basketball team at his local high school, and dining at Applebee's."

Interestingly enough....we ate at that very Applebee's last night .

Interesting. Justice's truck? Really interesting. The guy that we met driving it was not Justice, but it was in Lewisburg - 4, maybe 5 years ago. Told me this long story about where it came from, etc. Funny.

That's the scoop I got...let me see what Harvey says though, but everything does seem to match up.

Oh, and Craig to answer your prior question from awhile ago....our place is in Renick. Do you get down here much anymore?

So you like Land Rovers, West Virginia, and Applebee's - sounds like you just found a new best friend.

I can see how he wouldn't fit in a regular Defender

He's like Big Tom Callahan.

By the way...this has to be the longest "sighting" ever. I'm sure my wife loves that this has consumed 1/2 of our trip...but Charles is posting pics from Italy so I don't feel so bad.

Yeah, this probably warranted its own thread since its so unique! Ha - my GF is always dumbfounded when she looks through our vacation photos and there are twice as many Land Rovers and other cars, and barely any other photos.
