I saw a pristine white NAS D90 Station Wagon in Fairfax VA this morning. I waved but the windows were so darkly tinted that I doubt that they could see me

Yet another post of "Defenders Murph saw from then aircraft".

While out of town on a training detachment this week, wasn't I surprised to see four old 110/109 trucks being used as targets on a bombing and strafing range we were using several of the days.

After we were done throwing hate downrange on a few aircraft hulks and a host of other targets in another area during one of the day hops, we set up for some practice brownout landings in one of the spots that included two trucks on the back of semis and another two parked on their own. I asked my crewchief to get a few pictures with his IPhone, and here they are.

After I radioed what they were to my wing aircraft, they told me they wished they'd saved a few rounds just to hear me scream on the radio. (We had a couple superbeat hand-me-down 03/04 D110 TDIs as crew cars overseas a while ago that I got/kept running.)

I have no idea what these ones are/were, but I did confirm that they were Rovers.

Murph

Soooooo, I guess the ones in the pic are just ground clutter that you're not supposed to trip over? Rust in peace old friends.

Damn, even left hand drive! Can I sneak out there between rounds and steal the dash?

Sadly, a lot of these random trucks are ending up on the shooting and bombing ranges. You are starting to see more M151s, HMMWVs, and even our Recon IFAVs being shot up as they are not suitable/safe in combat and the DOT won't let them on the roads.

I regularly see this 90 at a local A&P parking lot on weekdays in Mahwah, NJ (right along Franklin Tpke). I believe it's a 95 with NY tags... anyone here?

*edit - took this pic a few weeks back hence the snow...

Glenn,

I think I recognize this 90. The rear reflectors on the back of the roof give it away. If it is the truck I'm thinking of, it's a '97 Wagon that I sold to a customer up in NJ back during the winter of '04-'05. It shouldn't be a '95 because Portofino Red wasn't available on NAS 90 wagons from US dealers in 1995*.

* There is 1 Portofino Red NAS '95 Wagon out there, but it was not retailed through a US dealer. It was truck used by Safety Devices as a prototype. It was later exported from the UK to Canada and later sold to someone on the US.

I love the fact that there's people sitting in that XTech while Jeff is stalking them with the camera. Jeff probably got bashed by their private security detail.
