Defender plastic top key blank part numbers

My last trip to England I found a key blank that looked original, the SilkaLF10. Thing looks stock. Found them online as shop there was closed and we were coming home. Just ordered from eBay--2 for just under $13, shipped. I'll let you all know how the go. Here is the current uk eBay ad I bought from. Set 2 Uncut Blank Key Blade Land Rover Defender British Leyland Maserati Lotus | eBay

Other part numbers for similar blanks (but not sure of plastic top) are: CurtisAA3 DominionLF17 JMA LF-RO SilcaLF10 TaylorX157 ORION LF17

From that same ad, they will fit: British Leyland,Iveco,Rover 3500 1980-81. Maserati Biturbo, 430, Quattroporte ignition, 1983-1990. Lotus Esprite Coupe 1991-1994.

Seems too good not to share!!

Yup. Even more incredibly that ignition and key style has been used since the British Leyland era over 49 years ago.

I love the swivel key for the glove box. That had a lot of uses from what I remember also. Hate that they broke though. Still have my 3 keys for both my Defenders. Christmas tree ornaments.

I just wished they were all keyed together. I have a key for ignition, door, center consul, rear hatch, gas cap, and storage drawer. I'm going to look to reduce this...sometime (probably never get around to it...)

I received my keys and they are perfect. They came to $6.50 each including shipping. Just like in the photo I posted above.

Pretty darn sure they are steel as magnet sticks. My local hardware store cut it and 30 seconds later I was starting the truck. Works great.

Damn you're lucky...I have a couple of these (from years ago) that are steel, went to half-dozen places to have them cut and no one would because they were steel.

That style of key started to get used by British Leyland in the early 70s I think. Complete with the swirling bathtub logo:

Mine arrived a week ago. $12.00 total shipped from who knows where!!!

Had them cut at Ace Hardware last night and they both work perfectly. Thanks for the heads up.
