Identify. Engine looks too far back to be a 300 and doesn't look like a TD5. Any guesses? 200tdi maybe?

What a shame. It wasn't even anything all that crazy either. RHD, no A/C, etc.

So did anyone see this Defender on ebay at any point? I'm curious how they flagged it.

The way they destroyed that seemed to be a bit of a spectacle, which I realize is the point, but still is a waste of money in my opinion. I'm sure they paid top dollar for someone to film that as well.

Sure.

And I'll tell him I saw it on Defender Source.com

Maybe he'll pop in and say "hey" and snoop around a bit...

Pretty much everything this administration does is a media circus act. I'm surprised they didn't give it to a Mexican drug lord to carry his US bought rifles around in style?

I only looked real quick, but I looked through some of Macrae & Dick (the name on the tire cover) listings, and didn't see it in there.

They did the same for the skylines ...
It is funny, my neighbors across the street from me love my Defender because the missionarys in Hati drove them and could get to the remote parts of their country. You would think the DHS could have donated the truck to a charity serving the needy somewhere in the world. What good that truck could have done.

But no, in true tyrannical fashion, the brown shirts at DHS took the occasion to crush a perfectly good truck in order to show the serfs/citizens of this country who their real masters are. Thug tyrants one and all.

Oh and Jason, having my truck stolen is one thing but having the authorities crush it when they find it is just plain STUPID! I stand by my earlier statement sir.

I seriously think that guy is happy a "rich" dude just got punked.

Attitudes are changing in America. We no longer celebrate hard work or success. We just get jealous and want a piece of the pie for nothing.

Rules are rules, sure. But as others pointed out, our tax dollars could be better used elsewhere. Like education. So that I don't have to pay ridiculous amounts for private school...and taxes.

OK, back to studying.

Sam nailed it. These guys get off on this stuff. I can personally attest to it after my dealings (and thousands lost) to the guys at the Savannah Port.

The funny thing is, that tow truck and crane/crusher were contracted. Someone a few levels removed from the feds made good money off of that whole ordeal. My truck was cleared and ready for pick up and then a second agent 'happened to notice' and did a quick inspection. He slapped a quarantine sticker on it and a week later a local steam cleaning company (the only one in the area 'qualified' to do it) and a local trucking company (with the right federal certification to transport 'bio-hazardous waste') were both paid thousands for the contract. Its racketeering. Plain and simple.

Why take the 'hard right' and do leg work to donate or sell to recoup cost to the government... when you can get a cut yourself?

There are a lot of euro ex-pats making a killing over here in Kosovo. Any personal issues with organized crime?

BTW... I love how half of the comments in this thread on the true nature of the fed gov't are from vets and service-members... from the belly of the beast itself

Don't change the 25 year law in the USA, it keeps the cost of trucks lower for us in Canada: it's 15 years here... ;-)

The whole thing is crazy. We should be able to buy new Defenders. The whole airbag excuse for an off-road vehicle is ridiculous. Like the Doc said: Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
