There's no accounting for stupidity, the water was clearly too deep and quickly flowing to even attempt that crossing. Just shows that even a Defender isn't infallible, and that water crossings should always be treated with a healthy respect.

I think it would have gone much better if they had driven upstream so that the water wasn't coming broadside. It wasn't all that deep.
Better yet rig a line across since there were obviously blokes on the far side. Yah going in full Wellington was a bit wrong...

Arizona has a "Stupid Motorist Law". They would have to pay for their own rescue and if a rescuer got hurt of killed they could be held crimenally responsible. It happens every year during our monsoon season and during our winter rains.

There was only one safe move when they were on the other side, reverse.

Yeah, I totally agree. I was a bit angry when I saw that.
Remember though, they grow up quick in those countries (sadly) and kids are not "kids" like we know it over here in the posh US.

I crossed a good one when I was younger. I was in my series 3 109 exmod and it pushed me about 15' down stream. I had water coming in over the doors on the up stream side( door tops off). Scared the crap out of me. Will never do it again!!! One word described it: LUCKY.

Prior to crossing the river it looked to me there was a blond-headed kid in the front seat. Hopefully there wasn't anyone in the back.
