I figure the way to solve that problem is not to sell anything and if the vehicle works there is no need to buy anything.

Same Land Rover for 38 years now.
Same Triumph TR3 for 29 years as of this upcoming June.

Never needed another car after I got the TR3. Besides I do not believe in buying a vehicle that depreciates. Its bad economics. I got the Land Rover for $350 and splurged on the TR3 for $1000.

With ya! I'm done buying vehicles that depreciate. And I hate the thought of driving a big computer so I'm happy with my current stable of pre-'99's.

But to stay true to the thread, I wish I had my:

1961 Lincoln Continental Convertible
1986 Porsche 954

Miss my pair of 72s:
72' 240z that I built in 84'. 2.8l block, cam, headers, triple webers, 5-sp, 3:90, 4 pt cage, and suspension/brakes from a wrecked electrodyne GT-2 car.
72' 2002 tii stock other than the suspension, chin spoiler and bumper delete. This would make for a fun commuter car today.

That may be part of my love of the D90 ST. Nothing like a summer night with the top off and tunes playing.

Not to be cruel but that list sort of sucks except for the 122S Volvo - I mean multiple Oldsmobiles - Really? And a BMW that is guaranteed to have more electrical issues than almost any British car you can name? Luckily I grew up in an era when you could buy an exotic piece of foreign crap for not a whole lot of money and get the true experience of wanting to throw tools across the shop and learn to cuss in any one of several European languages so your stupid car could understand your frustration. Where are the Alfas, Fiats, MG's, two stroke Saabs, NSU's cheap Porsches, BMW 2002's (multiple times) and other stuff that was a real challenge to find parts for before the days of the interweb...

I did have the good sense to buy this when I was 19 years old and keep it for the past 44 years...

'68 M-B 280 SL. Euro spec with 4speed manual. Was perfect and sold it for $16k to buy the 90 back in '95. Still wouldn't trade, but miss it. Especially with the prices they are today...
