Dammit it finally happened - I'm insulted!

Well, Dan told me it'd happen eventually. I got a parking ticket yesterday and the whole freaking thing was filled out like my truck was a black Jeep Wrangler.
The only part the parking guy got right was my license plate. BASTARDS.

IIRC the last one I saw was Dmarchand's parking ticket, but I'm sure it happens way more often. I'm fighting it for sure (at least court is at 8:30am, so no biggie).

Reasons for fighting it:

Ticket states Jeep was parked illegally within 25 feet of a crosswalk.
-But, parking sign says we can park on both sides of the sign
-curb is not yellow
-parking sign is 18 feet from crosswalk
-no distinct markings to show that you cannot park in that area (some of the other streets have yellow curbs surrounding crosswalk, therefore setting up confusion).
-I don't drive a Jeep!!

Yeah.. waste Your's, the Court's and not to mention the Adorable Public Servant's time, then when you prevail, everytime you sneeze you'll get a ticket.

I am all for fighting tickets ( but it is mostly when I am wrong ..i.e. doing 150 in the NJT )

I am sure is a $ 30.00 ticket, ( if I was you, I'll let it go ) is it worth to you to use your Get out of Jail Card for this?

Just my $ 0.02

P.S. now Pucnh the Officer on the nose for the JEEP THING

Nope, it's a $60 ticket. Court is like a block away from my apt, so it's not a huge burden.

I knew there would be a jeep reference in your story. Can't stand it either.

Gustavo is right, since it is a small town like NYC, they will definitely take the time to seek out your truck. Not like you are in some big anonymous metropolis like Sykesville, MD...

Okay Big City boy... ( Jersey dude )

And if memory serves he is in Hoboken, and a D90 will be very easy to find specially parked in the same spot often.

BTW, here in Metro Sykes, we check who crosses the bridge... Cannons aimmed, AR15 pointing at driveway's entrance, and most importantly we shoot at Cocky City Boys.... so when were you stopping by ? *LMAO*

You're right...I just updated my location to include both, as I'm splitting my time.

With all the Rhinoliner it will certainly always seem like a Heep Wrangler - those guys love the stuff. Bumpers, tubs, outside fenders.... you name it they 'line it.

ha!

See if you can get it thrown out by proving it is not a Jeep and therefore it must be a horse.

OVer here, if the officer puts the wrong details on the ticket, then it's null & void.

Give it a shot.

Argue that if the metermaid can't even get the make and model correct then how could they be relied upon to accurately tell if you were in fact in a no parking zone?

Lets see Gus, NJ from 69-87, NYC from 85-87 (attended HS there), Baltimore from 87-95, DC from 95-2010.

18 years in NJ Suburbs (two of which I was in HS in NYC)
23 years in Baltimore and DC environs. I've had rocks and bottles thrown at me in and out of my vehicle, knives pulled on me and I've been shot at in my Land Rover, with a bullet strike grazing off the windscreen. When I was a teenager we made regular forays into the neighborhoods in Trenton NJ, the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and elsewhere that most people only heard about on the news.

Sykesville? Really? You yuppie neo-rednecks are all the same. Full of bluster but still scared to pull the trigger. And besides, who says I'm coming over the bridge...

btw here is a link to a video posted by a member of this list. This is what a real home invasion/defense scenario looks like. A bit different than the scared 15 year old suburban brats you are used to dealing with, that you have bragged about. These guys came in with their own cannons and body armor to boot.
