D90 Crash Safety Profile

Hey all~
Was wondering (after seeing a horrible SUV accident).....just how safe would our beloved 90s hold up to a major accident? being aluminum and all??

I had a fender bender a year ago.......her car was totaled....but my 90 just had a small dent on the brush bar/fender........

now if i were to be t-boned in an intersection......would i be toast?

just wondering....

I think Tony (Dillo90) has some pictures on his site of his fender bender...probably not as bad of an accident you are looking for.

I ran mine into a wood beam in my car port...the brush guard won...the wood beam lost :D

Mine was more a low speed thing. The guy turned left in front of me and drove the trailer up my side. I saw him start the turn and tried to turn in under him which helped keep damage down. That's still $8500 in damages though. The stock brush guard did quite well but was screwed up badly when we were pulled apart.

My gallery got screwed up in a HDD crash last month. Those are about the only pics I have currently.

It was mostly cosmetic damage, wing, brush guard, rear corner. In a t-bone though I do think you're right screwed. Sliders may help a bit as will probably being a bit higher than whoever hits you.

I just remembered that a friend of mine did some pretty good damage on his one night in college after too many beers (which I don't suggest anyone do). He ran into a parked Dodge Ram going about 30 MPH. The truck was totaled but his ST was actually not too bad. The brush guard was bent to hell and the the front end damage was repairable. He came out of it without a scratch but was of course arrested.

Looking at the damage, I'd say it was something like an H2 or possibly a tractor-trailer rolling at a semi-good clip. Whatever it was, was tall and flat up front. See how it rolled right over the rear bumper without smashing it too bad?

It's the ratio of gas prices versus diesel engine

Yeah, and we've got a bunch of biodiesel start-ups in my area (and we're trying to do some testing!) so fuel is easy.
