D90 Bubble has Burst $$ ?

With all the talk of resale/current value, I thought this might be informative, if not semi-informative.
And I hope it's semi-legible.

Article from February 2005 LRE.

Nicholas

<edit>

I've got a higher-res version if you guys can't read it and are interested in reading it.

Hmm, old news. They sold that truck 2-3 months ago... But he still keeps it posted on the site...

http://www.copleymotorcars.com/land_...35.3vo634.html

But the bubble has burst for less noteworthy d-90's. As usual, you need to work to find the good ones.

Jason & Abel,

Sent Gentlemen.

Dave,

Yes, old news but a new article in a major advertisement. Try and not be so negative and just think of the positives of what little it could help the D90 Community. Every little bit counts. And in any 'higher-end-specialty-rare' vehicle, ANY 'less-noteworthy' examples will pull lower costs, that's just basic. I'm just trying to 'help' here.

I have a client that bought that truck from LandRoversForSale.com, they were asking close to 69K, he bought it for 65k then realized that the truck came with no owners manual, supposedly the original owner collected owners manuals, so he flipped it to Copley, which then sold it.
No real reason for the info, just came to my mind when I read the post.

The same client bought my 2002tii.

"continue to appreciate" is certainly an inaccurate statement. LE 300/300 is an outlier on the mileage/condition/pricing continuums for certain. I've claimed here that the bubble has burst (and I'm not a professional) but in all fairness, dealers and others still manage to get top dollar for some defenders. There is no doubt though that the pricing spread has increased substantially from 5 years ago. I attribute this mainly to the fact that there are now high mileage vehicles that people can choose from and there is no way that a 140k mile vehicle can command 40k mile prices.

indeed, I think there are only a few examples that would be able to get suck premiums, most D-90s unless super low milage <15-25k miles. I think when the D's are availible for legal import all this will change. Over all I think the NAS 90's are special but not 40thousand+ dollar special. THe NAS 110's seem like they will always bring a premium. All that being said these are nothing but utilitariam work trucks and you must be an idiot to think otherwise. I think the only way to get your investment out of em is to enjoy them for as long as possible, and just because you paid alot for your truck doesnt mean its still worth as much no matter how clean or pretty it is.

I hear you Nicholas...

But I won't be selling my 90...

If anything, I might buy another! And lord knows I don't want to pay over inflated prices.

NOSINKERPPILLIHP,

Interesting & wise words... Seriously though, what is your 'real name' ? where do you reside besides the 'Milky Way' ? And what kind of D90 do you have ? I'm always clue-less when I reply to your posts.

Jim,

True, an inaccurate statement... but hey... 'It's all good'.

David,

I'm right there with you. I'm never selling mine, and I'm either going to buy an blue or green D90 ST within the next year or so, or wait until 2009 when I can import a D110 Pickup for cheap (because that's when I heard the D110 pickup was introduced...)
Oh, I really like your picture site... Great pics & detail. Spent a couple hours there this morning.
(2.8 Powerstroke ENVY !!!! )

Hey, I dig 2002's. My daily is an M635Csi. I have to drive it because my wife takes the Defender all the time.

I need to get myself a 110. I'm just waitin for the bubble to burst!
