Randy, get an LR3, you won't be disappointed.
Ok, enough said.

We compared it to a new Volvo station wagon, Outback wagon, and Audi wagon. In the city, the mileage difference is negligible. Highway is a different story, but the ride is awful nice and so is the extra space compared to a D2 or wagon.
Exactly. Sounds like the exact same reasons why we got our D2 new.

Just an all around well-suited truck.
FYI..234k-miles on it and still counting.
That's what I'm taking about. I doubt I'd hold on to an LR3 as long as I would with the defender but with reliability like that, maybe...

P38s have goofy issues, but every Freelander call I get is, "how can I get a new engine or rebuild my own". I'd rather carry a spare becm than engine.

I've also seen how much more capable a P38a is, which is drastic when compared to a freelander. I know of a lot of people who are enjoying P38s mostly trouble free(I also know of a ton who have nothing but problems)

Get the Lr3!

We're really just splitting hairs with the p38 vs Freelander.

Assuming the issues are with the gen 1 Freelander. How is the gen 2 performing now using Ford's EUDC platform and engines?

I had an '08 LR3. Loved it. Heard there were less issues & some minor but nice upgrades by '08. My father in law has an '06 and after driving both extensively, I'd say go '08.

Hope you find a nice one!

Thoughts?
Speaking of the "worst Land Rover", your concerns about the D2 sum it up. Throw in the tres amigos and it's a real $hit show.

LR3 all the way, or better yet an LR4 if you can swing it.
