D.C. sightings

Driving away from Georgetown UMC, I made a right on 33rd and saw 3 Rovers on my way to Key Bridge.. A red (unsure which specific color) 1997 D90 SW, a green 2-door Series, and a yellow '94 or '95 D90 ST.. I have pics of the 1997 and Series, I'lll attach them later today. I usually go for months without even seeing a single old Rover, much less 3.

The green series might be the one that's lived on 33rd forever with an ancient jeepster. Next time stop by, I work right across the bridge. We can throw things at Arlington Motorcars for Carlos!

No engine driven fan just a kenlowe that is switched to the ingnition (I left it on all the time).
Pretty cool truck. Has central locking- tied to an alarm system with keyfob remote, galv frame,
heated windscreens f&r, 97 NAS style lights, La Salle fiberglass headliner, NAS style rear bumper,Corbeau seats, and an onboard compressor that controls airbags inside the coil springs. It came set @ 20 psi, I dropped it to 10 and it drove much nicer.
Who says 83 Imports can't be nice !

Dammit, even as I was typing that a voice in the back of my head was saying it wasn't a jeepster.

They must have been there for a decade, huh?

yup. pretty much the only thing worth seeing in georgetown if you ask me. well, excluding some of of the finer foot traffic...

There used to a be a half dozen or so series trucks that lived in a mile or so radius of G-town. Most of them are gone. One (exMOD 109) turned up in Arlington with Steve Heare who joined Mostly Metro. Don't know what happened to him though.

I was in Georgetown a couple weeks ago for 4 days and didn't see a single Defender or Series truck... however, the foot traffic... OUTSTANDING.

Sad thing is I may end up moving up that way in the not too distant future.

Indeed, the foot traffic makes it worthwhile enough on it's own, and if you need rovers you can always hop on the metro and slum it with us at Jays every fortnight or so...

Not to bump the thread, or anything, but here's a pic of me stalking the red D90 with my truck:

That's where the truck was when I bought it. Must now get around to putting my new tags on.

I had sworn up and down I would never live near DC... and now I'm sending resumes to companies up there, so my friends are gonna give me all kinds of grief.

I actually told Lockheed at one point they could never pay me enough to move there...I'm eating my words on that one now.

Well, if it happens, we'll make it as fun as possible for ya. At the very least there's an active rover community and seldom a lack of people to watch you turn wrenches and drink beer.
