D-90s family broken apart

Here are pics of the D-90s saying goodbye before wife's red D90 heads to J Robison service in Mass for service and possible sale. Wife wants luxury ,bluetooth , GPS , and all the bells and whistles so next Thursday she takes delivery of a silver RR sport . Now my backup plan if I rolled my D90 is over .

That is a sad story.........She may come to miss the character of the Defender over time (Although the RR Sport will be an awesome ride.........)

Wow - two Defender's in one family? How many other people on this board have more than one Defender 90???

Man, don't do it. Just put it in storage for a while. Is that a 97 Monza red? It looks like it is in great shape and unmolested, which is hard to find. Send it down here and I'll store it for you.

For what it is worth I would,t sell it unless you need to. Put it in storage, take it out once in a while to keep it running. If something terrible happened to your D you would have a known vehicle to start with.

The other thing to consider is that Land Rover might bring the Defender back to the US some day. When, or if, they do it will be nothing like what we already have. Expect lots of electronics, computers and other complexity. It might be a great truck, but it just won't be a real rover in my mind.

-Full disclosure: I'm finding it very hard to resist the urge to buy a Series IIB.

I expect that NSA D-90's and the 100's will keep their value for quite some time. Even if they don't, I don't care since mine is not for sale. When the time comes I'll send it off to ECR for an engine and chasis swap. I fully expect to be the eccentric old guy driving the same truck 30 years from now.

-Mark

ps -Did you have the gutter kit painted or powder coated? Also, what Badger top were you running?

Selling that Rover will, in time, prove to be the turning point in your marriage. Hereafter everything will be known as before or after "you made me get rid of the red one". Conversations will include phrases like, "I just want something different" and "that's just like the time you made me get rid of the red one." Keep a cool head, find a place out of sight if you must, get her the RR Sport if she demands. But don't, don't get rid of something so nice as that red soft top.

I've seen the truck up close. Its a nice truck.

I sold Jorge my Badger II top and gutter kit. The kit is painted red from a rattle can from HD. Its very close to the stock LR red.

Good Luck wth the sale Jorge.
