I know this is off topic but I wonder if we could get a collection of google street views of all the Defenders we can find. That might be impressive!

I was thinking it would be cool to re-set the record for most users online . . . . we could pick a day and time and just see how many we can get.

200, we can beat that!

You're not going to get mine , last google earth pic of my block is like 5 years old...

I'm in for a voluntary mapping of users, i think we should do it, it will be a great asset to the site.

As said before, i think as well that this is the most specific Defender forum, so this can open
a lot of possibilities (mapping trails, off road spots, annual encounters, etc...

I also understand users that worry about privacy, may be we should set it
so you have the option of putting only your city or town.

Ok Chris, lets do this. Make a "Map Location" field in the profile and blast an email to all members explaining that if they want to appear on the map they should enter their location there. It can be as generic as they like, ie "Dominican Republic" or a little more specific like "South Riding, VA", or their exact address even. But not "Under my truck!" etc.

I'll take care of the rest. The location can be looked up and cached, and then it's simple to overlay on a map.

My forum name gives it all away
If someone really wanted to find me I am sure they could.
I used to have my last name appear but decided to take it off because all my fans would really know where I live

BTW I'm not too far from the "famous" Amityville Horror House
I can give that address for fun

You're thinking along the lines of the birmabright club aren't you.

This goes back to opt-in and info people want to reveal. Without going overboard, I'd recommend we make another profile field for the info you want to appear in the callout.

Oh you mean forum handles? Again I think best if we let people decide what to expose

ROFL. That geocodes to somewhere in South America. I'll have to ask Mom when she moved.
