D-90 May/June American Road Trip

Greetings-

I'm about to graduate from University in Scotland, and I've picked up a 1994 portofino red D-90. I live in Vermont, and the Defender I've bought is in Salt Lake City. This Summer, after my exams finish up in late May, I'm going to SLC to collect the machine and take about 2 weeks driving it to New England with a couple of college buddies of mine. I've had a 2004 Discovery (some off roading, snow, etc.) for the past couple of years and have done basic off-roading in England in a friend of mine's D-90, and more in the Scottish highlands in a 110.

Basically I've gotten a D-90 because I'm in love with all the things that would make someone buy a truck that is both exotic and classless, rare and utilitarian. I've wanted one all my life, and I've got a bit of technical knowhow (from hours and hours spent working on my first vehicles, a 1974 Vespa Rally 200 and 1989 BMW 316) to try and make a go of taking care of and improving a Defender.

So, basically, just introducing myself to the community at large as a fellow owner, and if anyone knows a good place between Moab and Vermont to do some off-roading, and possibly give me a few pointers (in exhange for a few beers) between late May and late June, let me know!

Looking forward to working with you.

Best,
-AJK

Congrats on the 90... Have you planned your route yet? I am sure several people on this board would be willing to meet you and have a beer or two.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on graduating and your D90 purchase! I think it would be so cool to drive across the country in a D90...

Cheers...

Number 2 is on me, and we are always looking for an excuse to drink!

Wait, that didn't sound right . . . the second round is on me. That is a little better.

Adam, As you get to know the history of your Defender here is some info.
It was owned by a customer of mine in NY who has a few Defenders. The engine in your 90 came from his other Wagon. This one:

Just FYI as you get to know your new 90.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

Fidel-

Thanks for the extra info- keen to know as much as I can, and it's definitely reassuring to know that this 90 was owned by someone who's keen on the brand (and clearly willing to spare no expense). I'm assuming he owned my 90? They have a lot of the same upgrades: Hella lights, iPod, Alpine Stereo, Bluetooth, Tuffy centre console, AC, etc. Is the engine in good shape? Kind of jealous of that 4.6!

Also, could you guys make me a set of those speaker/woofer boxes? Do they run all the way to the back of the truck, or would I need a set of those spacers, too?

Cheers,
-A
