D 110 Tithonus

Well my new to me truck finally cleared customs late last week and I hooked up the trailer and hauled up to bring her home. My escort James was great and told me that customes have seized a bunch of Defenders but mine was good to go. When I finall got eyes on it I must I was very pleased. Abe Bell lined up the purchase for me and Doug Crowther worked his magic for what turned out to be a great buying experience. A very clean truck waiting to be loaded up!

So once I had her on the trailer I just had to look under her skirt. And found an absolutly spotless frame.

Curious what is wrong with the green one. Looks early to mid 80s vintage to me.

The green one had major VIN number issues. They were pretty closed mouthed about the "who, what and why" but it wasn't hard the read between the lines. There was a beautiful grey 110 (I didn't get a picture) that got snagged. Also, they are cracking down on the illict Mini Cooper trade. Here were some I think were making it through.

Thanks for the kind words about a good seamless process using myself and Doug to buy from Withams. Hopefully we can make this a regular thing.

Abe I have got to say it is a super clean truck. I was underneath for about an hour just looking at the frame. The only thing I found wrong was the little plastic thingy on the drivers seat lever was missing. The rest of the truck looks new. Even my James, escort at the port, said it was the cleanest ExMoD Defender he has ever seen. You and Doug did and excellent job. Super pleased! I mean just look at this 25 year old frame.

Lol, my truck is also missing the plastic parts for seat adjustment. Section of exhaust under driver is rusty compared to the rest wich is new. Had to tighten the wheel bearings, small leak on rad and added reflectors. Dude at inspection station was drooling.

Mine too, the one for the drivers seat. I wonder if squaddies have another use for them, they seem to be missing off MOD land rovers more than from civilian ones.
