Holy cow! Amazing. For those without a membership, here's a blurp from their blog:

It was about 4:30pm and we were starting to think about finding a bush camping spot for the night when a Discovery 3 pulling a camping trailer approached from the other direction. Anne slowed and moved the Land Rover over to the left, but unfortunately there was a drop off at the edge of the gravel road, rather than the usual tapered bank, which the near side wheels caught, unbalancing the vehicle and causing it to skid to the right into the side of the oncoming Discovery. The end result was us on our side in the middle of the road, and the Discovery on its roof in the ditch on the other side of the road. Anne climbed out vertically through the driverís door to check on the occupants of the Discovery, fortunately they were unhurt and had already exited their vehicle. Itís surprisingly difficult to get out of a vehicle thatís on its side (itís not easy climbing up the seats), but first I switched off the radio which was still playing and cut the electrics. The cubby box had ripped off its mountings and was beneath me, and diesel was dripping out of the secondary tank thatís located under the driverís seat.

Now that is an F'n shame. I'm very pleased to read that they intend to fully restore that CT 110 back to original condition.

I had a laugh at the one bloke that said "why couldn't it be two Toyotas?"

When I was restoring my 110, I envied the interior roll cage of the CT's, but after seeing things like this, I'm really starting to appreciate my external cage....and my ARB bumber (bad approach and all).

Wow... that really sucks. Glad everyone is OK.
It makes you wonder if there was less weight on the roof if the slope on the shoulder would have caused them to loose control.

Were they both being driven by teenage girls or something? I might be missing some vital context clue here but how the fuck did the 110 pull to the side of the road to make room for the LR3 and they BOTH end up doing can opener rolls???

I hate to say this as I'm not gender bias, but this is not the only overland expedition couple in a 110 I've read about, that totalled the vehicle while the woman was driving.

here is another...coincidence?
http://www.junglerunner.com/RTW01/RTW__Home.htm

When Teri and I went to South America I drove the whole time. She was just not comfortable (which I respected). Most every couple we met said the vast majority of the time the male drove.

The way I read it and pictured it is she got too far over on the soft left shoulder, the top heavy truck leaned, she countered by whipping the wheel right and t-boned the LR 3 in the drivers side. Sounds like the 110 would have rolled regardless unless she cut the wheel left into the lean and down the bank. She just maximized the situation and took out the other truck. Look @ that roof rack on the ground- had to be 750lbs of crap up there and its all still nicely secured even though the roof rack has been surgically removed from the 110. I've had a few "moments" with a lot of weight on a 110 roof rack and it definately pulls your package up close.

Its actually a quote from The WSJ about the demise of the bank I worked for- Indymac. Seems appropriate for a lot of lifes scenario's, @ least mine.
