Criminal Record Search

I found out an old buddy of mine had been going through a rough patch the last couple of years. We lost touch when he moved to KY. Last I talked to him he had been barred from seeing his son and was headed for divorce. I called him last night for his birthday and had to ask another friend for a current phone number. Long story longer...he confirmed my buddy had been on the skids lately and would appreciate my call. I decided to see if I could find him on Google/Facebook and to my dismay, I found a mughsot/booking photo back in 2011. Long way to ask, is there a good way to find out what he's gotten himself into to know what I'm dealing with? I found a sh*t site last night that takes $20 and gives you no info whatsoever. Just trying to figure out how best to help. The guy has no visitation rights to his son so something bad must have happened. For all the legal types, the arrest info I found stated the charge was "serving time on confinement order". That's not something you'd be arrested for I don't think so something else must have happened right?

Lexis nexis has a service but it a few hundred bucks. So does west law. Frankly if he is your friend ask him. If not don't worry about it and just be his friend.

Just ask him, or ask the precinct. If it was something agregious like sex offender, you probably would have already found out, since the info is readily available.

Maybe find some relatives that lived nearby and explain yourself to them... maybe they will give you some info or way to contact him... or at least get your info to him...

Just ask him what's going on. West Law is something everyone should have.

Go on craigslist and offer $20 for a West or Lexis search. Some law student will do it I'm sure.

Last I checked, people search is not on the law school plan.

Thanks all, we connected this afternoon and he sounded like he was doing pretty well. We're planning on a guys trip to Maker's Mark in late summer. Feel bad for the guy, on top of legal issues and divorce, he had a huge accident in which he broke his neck and was in traction. I feel bad for keeping up so poorly. I feel like all I ever do now is keep work, kids and house building going...

See if your state has a judiciary case search website. Md has one and it's free. I use it all the time....
