Consumer Reports Worst 11 Vehicles...

Anyone see this report ? Interesting that the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Hummer H3, Jeep Liberty Sport and Toyota FJ all made the list.... I was half expecting to see the LR3 or LR2 in that list, but was pleasantly surprised not to....

The only two that really surprised me were the Unlimited and the FJ Cruiser. I thought overall people were very happy with the new wrangler design.

I've always though consumer reports sucked. Things get compared to some platonic standard which satisfies some statistically ideal consumer. Not every vehicle can be or should be a civvic.

I think it's even worse than that. I am almost convinced they are bought and paid for. Motortrend is much more accurate imho.

Made it further than half of the other guys, but the Hammers won.

Read closely. The standard for judgement included criteria like noise, skidpad numbers, and other elements any decent 4x4 will fail. There was no inclusion of worthiness factors for what the car was built to do - go off-road.

You can't evaluate trucks or 4x4's using car standards. I recall Motor Trend did the same when they started their truck of the year. No mention of towing or payload in the scoring, only speed, handling, accelerating, etc. Surprise, surprise, all 4x4's came in last. The next year the makers submitted 4x2's. Automotive journalists are part of the reason, IMO, we have such bad trucks today.

I have had my '07 Unlimited for a year now, and have had very little problems with it. Yes, compared to an Explorer or something it is noisey, rougher riding, and less comfortable. But it's a Wrangler, and you have to expect that before buying one. Overall I have been very pleased with mine.
