Comments on a 1997 Defender Soft Top please?

Anyone with knowledge willing to comment on this 97 Defender 90? If you see anything glaringly wrong in the photos could you let me know?

Thanks in advance.

I think it may be the angle that the shot is taken from.... The auxiliary lights look like they are setup to look for airplanes....

Seriously though... Pictures of trouble spots include door bottoms, bulkheads, foot wells.... Taking pictures of freshly painted diffs doesn't say much other than it's got them...

No surprise considering it has street tires on it.

Haha I saw the 2 battery cut-offs as well. Weird. Aftermarket key as well...

Odd that it has side steps and sliders.

No turn signals in the ARB bumper.

As I have said before, you guys are awesome. I like the input

I emailed the guy for more pictures and I'll post when he sends them.

When I get a Defender I'll be bringing it back to stock, so I would take that bumper off anyway.

I noticed that the rails on the side protrude out a bit, which makes the step a little weird. But regardless that's what it has right now.

Thanks guys.

the stock sills to replace those rock sliders (rails protruding out a bit) are fairly easy to find here in the for sale parts section from time to time, plus the sliders can be sold. I haven't seen anything so far that would make me run though.

Aside from the pics you have already rec'd you may also look in here for additional places to check: bulkhead, door bottoms, etc.

More pics

More pictures. The VIN I think is: SALDV2242VA110301

It's in Long Island right now, listed here, but these are pics of a previous Defender the guy had apparently. He said he is updating the pictures once this one gets detailed:

Josh, want to take a trip out to LI? I'll buy lunch. Free hot dogs for life. No drinks. Can't do it.

As strange as it sounds, I'm about to install rock sliders and steps just like this. Why you ask? The rock sliders are actually for side impact protection. (Rather than some thin sheets of aluminum.) I'm going to be driving my rig in Chicago and Houston....and would like the added insurance for my safety and my truck. (Every bit helps.) The steps, well....they are for my girlfriend. She loves my truck and puts up with my obsession....so it's the least I can.
So if you buy the rig, just something to consider.

I have a 95 NAS SW and there are actual conventional door handles on mine instead of the recessed ones. The one you are considering is a '97 so shouldn't it have similar door handles? I'm new to the Defender world so I am probably wrong.

No pictures of the real trouble spots. I like how the guy lifted up the floor mats to show the area near the seat box, but not the footwells. I smell rust!

Did an autocheck and it's been in Oregon it's whole life (Portland until 2005, then Bend from 2005-2013).

Mileage reported intervals are below:
20,000 09/02/1999
30,000 01/07/2002
41,000 08/22/2003
50,000 08/02/2005 not included in rollback calculation
48,367 10/07/2005
49,313 04/24/2006

No accidents reported at least.

So nothing crazy from the VIN history at least, CarFax might vary some.

Yeah it was for sale out of Bend last year according to Google. The Lux Sports guys certainly always swing for the fences with their prices.
