Charlotte, NC Area crew, Tools and Welder Stolen

Last night my storage container was broken into, and most of my tools and my welder was stolen. I have assembled a list of some of the items that are gone, well the high-points anyways.

Any leads or info is greatly appreciated, I will be calling pawnshops in the area tomorrow and watching Craigslist and eBay like a hawk. I have contacted Miller to get the serial number of my welder from when I registered it with them.

I'm absolutely furious, and whoever took my tools does not want me to find them.

Here's the high-points, there's lots more, but this is what sticks out in my mind.

All my brother's musical equipment, computers, etc. were stolen out of Asheville about a year ago. Cops did nothing so my brother hounded the pawn shops and CL like you plan to do and notified the popo when he found stuff. They tracked the guy down, warrant to search his residence, and found just about everything from my brother and his other neighbors.

Good luck with everything. It absolutely sucks when people think its their right to take your shit you've worked so hard to pay for - especially when it's your livelihood!!!

It was stolen from my storage place in Lincolnton, and I'm hearing that it's probably at the Fairgrounds Flea Market in Hickory.

I went out there yesterday, but the rain had run everyone off. I did go through my records and found the serial number on my welder so hopefully that will help track these guys down. Thankfully it least appears my insurance will cover some of this... after they get an itemized list and depreciate the values on everything.

F'ers! Sorry to hear about this. It seems like they must have known what was in there, which might narrow the list of suspects.

Nah, they were just idiots that got lucky. They broke into all the other containers, but just by running off with my big welder and top to boxes off my cabinet they made out with some decent $$$

Sorry to hear this happened Jon. Did you have a separate policy for your tools?

I certainly don't want to jinx it, but I had a Hell of a time getting insurance on my tools after I moved back from PDX and wasn't running a shop full time.

It appears my renters insurance is covering it.... but no I didn't have a separate policy... though after this I may consider it.

WOW! The limit on my homeowner's insurance wouldn't cover my boxes. Also, they weren't at my home.

When I told my insurance agent what the replacement cost of my boxes was, he quickly told me he couldn't and wouldn't cover them and I had to find someone to issue me an "inland Marine" policy.
