Seems like these are the automaker's in-house restoration shops though, not independent like ECR (although they do amazing better than factory work just not what the article was about).

Does GM do factory builds for customers or just in house restorations for their own fleet and special projects?

If they don't I wonder if it is because there is an over abundance of businesses that already do it and are good at it.

I did go to the Museum a couple years ago soon after the sink hole and read that GM was doing resto work on some of the cars that weren't a total loss but wasn't sure if they did it for the outside.

Amazing that Aston Martin has been doing this type of work for as long as they have and the others only recently.
