Car covers - how effective?

I'm looking to get my first Defender, but don't own a garage. I'm looking at one right now that has a Badger top and imagine it wont be enough to keep out the elements

How effective are car covers at protecting Defenders from the elements? And is there a particular one I should be looking at?

Cheers

I havent seen one that fits right, I'm sure they are out there. If you cant find one and your concern is the finish use Waxhol. They have very good products, check out the yellow and red sponge. It brings the paint right back. The Badger should work quite well for keeping out the weather, assuming its installed right and has no tears. I had a similar set up.

If you find a cover that works post it as I'm sure many would like to know! I'm surprised Badger hasn't come out with a cover...IMO it would be a good seller!

I think AB has covers that are made for D's.

I've had good luck with my California Car Cover. It was expensive (around $300), but they modified the standard template nicely to accommodate the roof rack and brush guard. I also asked for extra material on top so I could create a pitch using 4 buckets from home depot. That keeps water from pooling in the roof rack. With all that said, I'm not sure how useful the cover would be in winter. I garage my 90 in the winter so I can spare the frame from the Chicago salt trucks.

My bad:

They have other versions there too, one for the ARB bumper, one for roof racks, etc.

California Car Car x2. Splurge though. I bought the middle of the road one, and it still doesn't keep all the water out. You do have to compromise on something that breathes, yet keeps the elements out.

CCC does custom covers to your specs. I think the one I got for my 110 was about $250.

Couldn't you just make one out of a couple good tarps?
