Canadian Expedition ideas

SO I have this lady friend from Canada who has been out wheelin with me in the 90 and she loves it. She and I have been talking about getting together with another friend of mine and going on a western Canada expedition of some
sort. I have not really looked into the possibilities but am thinking of starting and ending the trip in Vanc BC and being out on the road/trail for about 3 weeks. Any of you know of any sights you would recommend seeing or moderately challenging trails worth exploring? Of course we are aware of Banff and other tourist areas worth seeing. There are side trips to old mines or other areas of interest that are mostly unknown that we would love to explore. We are looking for some offroad explorations along the way that will make it a fun mix of hwy and trail driving.

Any of you that have any experience in western Canada would be great to hearfrom. Maybe if you are a local up there you could meet us along the way.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

THX

If you like fishing: Queen Charlotte Islands. Great BC salmon and halibut out there.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Are any of these places suggested challenging offroad driving? We want to be sure that there are some elements to the trip we plan that have some modeerately challenging offroad driving to get to some interesting place.

I know when I was growing up in Alaska my dads friends all seemed to have knowledge of old mines and other unique places that were a challenge to get to but very interesting as few people travel there. I am looking for a challenge but with a purpose or goal of some sort. Does that make sense? I do not really enjoy driving over rough terrain just for the thrill of doing so. I want a mission of sorts.

Any other suggestions or thoughts?
I should check to see if there is a Rover club in BC that could offer some suggestions.
