Campaign Furniture

These folks have been emailing me for years.
Since this site has evolved from a small group of off road enthusiasts helping ea other through mechanical failures and modifications to a group where threads are about: "this pisses me off" ,and "do I have to pay capital gains if I sell my D", and things that "suck",and visceral comments about the aesthetics of other peoples trucks with no consideration given to anyone but oneself, ribbed roof hate, or making inappropriate comments in other "for sale" threads.

I thought the following link may appeal to many here.

J and R Guram | Foldable campaign furniture

That's some cool stuff. Last summer I got the itch to make a Roorkhee chair. It's the original collapsible camping chair developed by British engineers stationed in Roorkhee India in the late 1800's. It's one of the most comfortable camping chairs I've ever used.

I need to dig up pics of the second chair and foot stool I made for my wife's B-day. The foot stool is a three legged folding stool that works as a standalone stool or as a height matched foot rest.

Wow! That's some beautiful work. Thanks Uncle D.

Paul... great job. Did you use a plan or did you design it yourself?

Nice one Doug. I've had a stiffie for Roorkhee and Martin chairs since seeing them at Lewis Drake 5 years ago: Roorkhee Chair in Leather | Products | British Campaign Furniture, the finest handmade antique break-down furniture reproductions in rosewood and leather

Really nice! Bringing the old world, to the new world, in places out of this world! Or, at least back then, of the known world.

Are we still upset about the whole Tithonus fiberglass top cutting thread?

That feels like forever ago. I already sold my top to a guy who is cutting it into a pop-up camper.

A new item added to the J&R Guram catalog. Seems like the design of the top of the mirror would greatly reduce its ability to pack nicely and increase the likely hood it would get broken.

Very cool. I looked @ those trunk bars on Starbay.

I was outbid a couple years ago @ an estate auction on a large 3 section
campaign chest of drawers. It was beat up pretty well,
obviously used for the purpose for which it was intended.
The brass corners bent up etc, but it was rosewood. Kicking myself
for not having bought it ever since.

Campaign

Starbay said their stuff is of walnut, stained to rosewood .

It looks and weighs like rosewood to me. Just not sure.
